    Dr. Draheim is a very kind person and actually cares about the health of your animal. When we adopted our dog she was supposed to be spayed and came with paperwork and all. We had her for a year and she was displaying signs of a heat cycle. The first time we brought her in to a vet close to us and they were completely stumped. They did X-rays, blood work, random lab test, and even got the U of M involved. Their diagnosis...some totally random and rare disease and they wanted a billion dollars to continue. Her heat cycle went away and through our own research we were 99% sure it was heat. Six months later she gets it again so I reached out to the place that we adopted her from and explained our situation. They said to bring her to our vet and have her checked out...I explained our vet was worthless and who do they recommend. That is where Dr. Draheim comes in. My wife brought our dog in and he checked her out and said well it certainly looks like a heat cycle. He even said there is a hormone test that could be done but why waste the money since it is about 95% chance of being heat related. What vet doesn't run a test for the sake of saving money because they are certain of the result...none. We brought our dog back for surgery a few weeks later and he found the problem and took care of the issue. Prices are on par with other vets but his compassion for animals and common sense exceeds other places we have been.

    My cat was sick for several days. I called the office and they had me bring the cat in right way. Dr. Draheim evaluated the problem, discuss the cost of each procedure. We ended up with surgery to get a foot long string out of the cat's GI system. The Dr. followed up with check-in calls on the weekend. The cat fully recovered. Dr. Draheim honestly takes an interest in his patients, and has great surgical skills. Fully recommend.

    I went through several veterinary clinics before I finally found this little gem. I have a nervous little chihuahua, who is always frightened of new people, who immediately took to Dr. Draheim like a miracle. Each time I visit, I'm impressed at how comfortable and trusting my anxious little psycho-dog becomes in his care! It is apparent that he has a sincere compassion and concern for animals. It has always been reasonably priced. At OTHER clinics I sometimes felt as if there were unnecessary charges, or like the vets were eager to jump into expensive procedures before investigating the condition of my dog a little deeper; in order to make sure those expensive procedures were necessary/actually helpful. Dr.Draheim has, so far, been very good about investigating my dog's condition thoroughly, and discussing the options of treatment (and payment) with me. Recently, he discovered that my dog had been misdiagnosed with a condition at a previous clinic (thanks for the catch, doc!). Also, at OTHER clinics, the vets would have to muzzle my frightened dog (which made her even worse, actually). No muzzle at this clinic! Just a calm, confident, gentle veterinarian! There are several vet clinics that are literally less than 6 block away from my house, but I prefer to take 20 minutes to drive to the "best" clinic - to take my dog to the doctor she and I trust (-;

    My old, diabetic cat was near death when I brought her to Dr. Draheim as a last resort. I was not a neglectful pet owner. I had been with Dr. Sue of White Bear for 10 years. Under her care, my cat just got worse and worse. She is a natural healing, natural food, believer. She was OK when my Talulah just needed routine care, but when she became ill, she did her no good and treated me as if I had done something wrong. She was s also more expensive compared to other vets I have had. I saw my loving Talulah slowly dieing. She had been my pal for several years and was always there for me in my very worst of times. I was sure I would lose her. I brought her to Dr. Draheim as my last loving effort to save her. Kind of a "second opinion." I thought he would say to put her down. He told me how very ill she was and that she would likely not make it, but he would try with a series of insulin and other drugs to get her to come around. Two weeks later, it looked like she would make it. It is now 9 months later. She has gained weight, is playing, eating, using her litter box again, and purring in my lap. She is my alarm clock, waking me up by licking my nose at 6 am. I am so very grateful to have her back, thanks to Dr. Paul. He is a very skilled, wise, compasionate doctor who listens and cares.
