My mom brought her 9 year old cat who wasn't eating much for a couple of weeks (but still was eating a little) there and they misdiagnosed him with a rotten tooth, pulled the tooth and gave him antibiotics. The next week, he still wasn't eating, then she brought him back and they did tests, but not enough tests, and misdiagnosed him again with having feline diabetes and started administering insulin and IV's since he was very dehydrated. After 2 days, he wasn't eating anything at all, and the vet sent the cat home for my Mom to try and force feed him and administer more insulin shots over the weekend. On that Saturday, the cat urinated all over the place and lost bladder control, in which the insulin ran all of the fluids out of him. On that Sunday night he couldn't walk or move and was completely limp. Then, we called the emergency vet on duty there and he did some more tests said the cat was close to death. The emergency vet didn't think the cat had diabetes, it was liver failure/fatty liver and possibly due to the cat not eating for so long. The ER vet put him on IV's for the night including potassium since almost all of the potassium was depleted from his body and he was very jaundiced. The cat was doing a little better the next day, so early in the morning, he tried to put a feeding tube in him and as soon as the vet administered the anesthesia, the cat's heart stopped beating and he died. Had the first vet (John Swinford) caught what was going on, our cat would still be with us, had they put the feeding tube in before he was almost dead. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE, SERIOUSLY!
My precious pug died in the hands of John Swinford. Don't take your pets to Mineral Area Veterinary Clinic in Farmington Missouri if you want to see your pets again. There was no reason for it I just took her there to be spayed.
The staff are friendly but not always so prompt in the reception area. The techs and doctors are super nice and very helpful in answering questions. They show concern and compassion for all of my animals and will assist me even when I ask about my cats on my dog's visit. You can tell that they love their job. Even the costs are reasonable.
