I have donated goods here, primarily old towels and blankets. Usually the staff is very busy with the animals, but you would think someone would be at the desk at all times. I was there 10 minutes, maybe longer, as I was chatting with an anxious pet owner. When an employee came out of the back to bring my new acquaintances' pet, she ignored me completely until I stopped her and asked if I could just leave the blankets I was donating. She said "oh yeah sure" but I doubt if she even registered me, as she never looked at me. Oh - and when she brought the man his pug she told him "you'll have to do something about these ticks, he has several on him", and looked affronted when he told her "well yeah that's why we brought him here" (to the attached vet shop). But at least she took the dog back into the back.

I have to agree with Intelligent here. The female (whose name I did not note in my outrage) who I believe is the manager here, and her staff, give the most degrading service I've ever received at any Humane Society. If your living arrangements aren't 100% obvious or simple, she and her staff will stare you down as if you are some kind of animal stealing criminal, who intends to serve them up for dinner or skin them. I adopted a lovely female cat from the Macklind humane society with no trouble, and I will never go to Maryland Heights again, despite their proximity to me. The manager lied to my face about their policy (I've adopted before, and I know what she said isn't true), and her employees glared at me awfully, in the most accusatory fashion. I feel for the animals in their care. Please skip this shelter until there is a staff change.
