Thank you to Dr. Kelley and Dr. Heidi. We transferred our 4 dogs to Gentle Care upon moving to nixa from springfield. Shelby our papillon had to have emergency surgery. Dr. Kelley fixed my little girl. Dr. Heidi is also wonderful. They treat my dogs like their own kids. I love those two. However Dr. Oppsomer I would not recommend. My pomeranian had to have a shot and she screamed for 3 days every time I bent down to touch her. My husband is the one who took her and said that Dr. Oppsomer's bedside manner was not friendly. He was all business and didn't make my "kids" feel comfortable. I will always go to Dr. Kelley or Dr. Heidi. I will stay away from Dr. Oppsomer.
I have been using this vet for over 3 years now for my dog and two cats since we moved to Missouri. I was sad to say this relationship just ended today. Let me tell you why. I am a stay at home mom and money is tight especially with the economy not helping. So, since my vet could not match competitor prices, I felt I was left with no choice for my family situation but to order them on-line from 1-800-pet-meds to refill the heart worm pills for my dog which I calculated saves me several dollars a month on each pill. However, I got a phone call today from Gentle Care Animal Hospital saying that they had received a request from 1-800-pet-meds that I had put in to refill my dog's prescription. The dog is up to date on all annual exams and shots per this vet. However, It is "the policy" of Gentle Care Animal Hospital, that I had to come physically pick this piece of paper up if I wanted the prescription refilled on-line. Per Dr. Michael Oppsomer, he said "he is not my secretary". I asked if Gentle Care Animal Hospital could mail it to my house to save me a trip out since they would not fax it. Gas add up too when you are a stay at home mom even when gas is cheap right now. Gentle Care Animal Hospital refused to mail or fax this one piece of paper to get my order filled. They would not work with me at all to save my business. Is this asking too much of your vet that you spend hundreds of dollars on annual exams and shots every year for multiple pets??? Needless to say Gentle Care Animal Hospital was quick to take my money when my dog had a broken leg and we spent a fortune on our "million dollar dog" using money we didn't have to get him fixed and have x-rays, surgery, and follow-up visits. All this money I spent and I had to drive to Gentle Care Animal Hospital on a special trip to get this paper only to have to drive to my local bank to fax my request in since I don't have a fax machine and Gentle Care Animal Hospital would not fax it. Seems like a simple task to save a "Hundreds of Dollars" a year account with them. P.S. Also on several occasions, they have over billed me for the heart worm pills when I was buying from them by charging me for a full box of 12 when I only ordered one or two individual pills (big price difference!). Needless to say if I hadn't checked my invoice in detail, I would have been over charged. (Being a stay at home mom I always check my receipts for this reason) I had to ask for credit back on numerous occasions and have the credit card refund slips to prove it. For anyone out there who loves 1-800-pet-meds as much as I do to save money and have them delivered right to your door, I would NOT recommend Gentle Care Animal Hospital for this reason. Signed, Looking for another vet.
We have a now 13 year old Dachshund. About 3 years ago the vet we were going to gave up hope on him when he developed a heart problem. They told us there was nothing they could do for him..The poor guy went to not even moving to get a drink of water..we were bringing him water. We were going to put him down but needed to hear it again that there was nothing they could do for him. We took him to the er vet and they said that he was severely dehydrated. We told them how we called our vet every day just wanting them to see him and they told us there wasn't anything to do. We left him there for a weekend and when we picked him up he was like a puppy. Needless to say we had to find a new vet...We did lots of checking with friends and seemed to hear great things about gentle care. So I took Buster to them..They agreed he was in bad shape, but they thought with the proper care he would pull through. They of course did x-rays and blood tests and they always called to check on him...When the first vet told us there wasn't any hope and within a few months he would be dead, Gentle care told us they didn't believe that. So now 2 years later our Buster is still going strong. He's had bad times but Gentle Care has "fit" him in and told us bring him on up on the days he couldn't breathe. I truly feel that without Gentle Care our Buster would not be here after 2 years of being giving the death sentence. Be choosy in who you pick for a vet but do check out the doctors at Gentle Care. They truly are amazing!!
