Will try to not make this too long but I can't say enough good things about Dr. Hardy and the staff at James River Animal Hospital. My Daisy had Pyometra(deadly uterine infection). She is a 6.5 year old Red Heeler/Pit mix and my baby. I have had her since she was 5 weeks old. Took her to a vet is Springfield who diagnosed her, told me it was deadly, and wanted a tremendous sum of money to save her. I went the antibotic route for less money because that was within my means. When she didn't improve, I emailed Dr. Hardy. He called me on his own time and told me he would perform the surgery for a reasonable rate. She started to slightly improve from the antibiotics so I called to put off the surgery. They explained how life threatening her condition was and convinced me to take her in. After seeing her and performing the surgery Dr. Hardy told me that her condition was to the point that she would not have lived more than a few days longer. He saved her life, came back to his office late at night to make sure she was ok that night after the surgery and came in early the next morning to take her out and walk her. The staff is very caring and all talked to me about her and how she was before even saw the Dr. Rare to find a vet who truely loves animals like that. I have 3, Daisy, a black lab, and an American Pit Bull Terrier. They will not go anywhere but James River Animal Hospital.

Took my little Morkie there to have her first ever wellness check up, shots, and got spayed. A couple days later she had what they called a "reverse sneeze" from the surgery and they took care of here when I got there freaking out not knowing what it was. (nothing a little cough medicine couldn't fix) I absolutely love how they took care of her! They monitored her all day to make sure she was good, and told me how to help her. I was so pleased with how nice the nurse was! She will go there from here on out!

I can not brag enough about James River Hospital. The staff is the most caring, compassionate, honest, loving and best group of animal lovers I know. I have a Flemish Giant who is not easy to take care of. He has had crazy abscess and infections where I thought he was not going to get better. But not with Dr. Hardy he took him in and put in drain tubes. (Mr. Binx did not like this. He had to wear a cone on his head.) But after the care and patience of the staff....I was a worried mom and called a lot. Mr. Binx got completely better. It took months to get him back to himself but they were with me the whole way. They never made me lose hope. I take all my pets here for their care. I would never go any where else. It feels like you are family when you walk in the door for each office visit.

I took my green cheek conure to have its wings clipped. The staff was very professional and careful, even though my bird was very upset and biting, they were so patient and tried to calm her. I will take my birds here every time. :)

I've been bringing my pets to Dr Hardy for years. Great service and wonderful staff. Won't go anywhere else
