We've been taking our various pets to VCA O'Fallon for more than 10 years. One of our cats had to have a kidney removed and lived many, many years with just one kidney under Dr. Biliyk's care until he died of old age. Since then our dogs and other cat have seen Dr. Miller and Dr. Molitor. The doctors and staff are always kind and courteous, and I always feel well taken care of. They discuss treatment options and costs up front. Vets in general are expensive and sometimes VCA seems a little more expensive than others, but I feel that a little bit of extra cost for vets that I trust is worth it.

I took my two Japanese Chins here for many years and came back to the practice after moving back to the area. I was sad to learn that Melissa Weist had left the practice but decided to go ahead with a new vet there based on previous experience even though I noticed their prices were higher after taking a friend's dog to a different vet. Last Thursday, my pet got sick. Since they have extended hours, I was able to take him in at 10pm. Using X-rays, the vet misdiagnosed my dog with pneumonia when in fact he was having heart problems. She never asked about a history of breathing problems or other symptoms he was having. She did compare the x-rays I had taken 6 months ago when he had hurt his back to the ones she used to diagnose. She did point out his enlarged heart and his heart murmur, but told me she was confident in was pneumonia. She recommended a steroid shot saying it could help with breathing, but if it was a heart condition it could make it worse. I trusted her and approved the shot. She then said she would probably call in antibiotics the next day after the x-rays were read by a specialist. She advised me to take him to the hospital if his breathing got worse. By 2am, he was coughing up blood and breathing was worse. The vet at the Emergency Hospital in O'Fallon immediately diagnosed my dog with Congestive Heart Failure even though I argued with him based on what the vet at VCA had said. He said he did not need for me to spend $200 on xrays again to diagnose based on the syptoms and history and put him in an oxygen room. That vet was amazing, patient, communicative, and did everything he could, but Zuki died around 7:40am. The vet called VCA for records at 7:30am when they opened. The records arrived at 7:45am and clearly stated heart problems. I don't know if a correct diagnosis could have saved him...I don't know if the steroid shot speeded it up his death....I don't know if those 3 hours of oxygen he lost during that critical time might have stopped the seizure...What I do know is that my family and Zuki's sister miss him. I paid almost as much to VCA that night as I did to the Emergency Hospital which included 6 hours of focused care and cremation. I will never take another animal there or recommend VCA again.

We needed a vet to stitch our dog's ear after she was bitten by a neighbor's dog. The facility was clean, people pleasant and they treated our dog well. What I liked was that they were able to get us in quickly and upfront about the fees, We were really surprised when they said we didn't have to get the ear stitched but it would heal faster and look better if we did. To top it off, when we paid, the bill had a credit for the amount of the pain medication because they forgot to add that when they gave me the initial quote.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable! Very reasonably priced. Will be using VCA as our forever vet!

I took my dog in for an annual exam and groom in Sept. It was the highest vet bill I have ever had! He is due for a vaccination in March, 6 months later. They are telling me he has to have another annual exam with all tests run in order to get one vaccine! I can see this for older dogs, but he is only 4 years old. I called another place and that is NOT how it works. It seems like this place just wants money.
