I have an amazing 9 year old English Springer Spaniel. Unfortunately, she has suffered with countless ailments since she was a puppy. The most severe and daunting, was her chronic skin infections and urinary tract infections. These got progressively more severe as she grew older. Having lived in the North Carolina and in California for her first 6 years, we saw many different veterinarians- all who all just gave us antibiotics and/or steroids until her next flareup (which often was only a few short weeks). We eventually ended up at a top canine dermatologist in Los Angeles who misdiagnosed her with seasonal allergies. I never felt that anyone questioned why this was happening to her or how to prevent it. Two years ago, when we moved to NH I was very cautious when I selected a vet clinic to bring her to. After getting several very strong references, we settled on Brookline Animal Hospital. From the very first day I met Dr. Monachelli, I was impressed. She treated my dog's condition as serious and together we tried to find the underlying cause. By this time, my dog was in an e-collar almost every day, was bleeding and inflamed from her skin sores, and getting progressively worse with each season. Even when I was discouraged and frustrated, Dr. Monachelli kept looking for a solution, all the while treating my dog with so much care and compassion. I am happy beyond words to say that Dr. Monachelli finally found the cure. I honestly never thought the day would come. My dog now acts like a normal dog and is very much enjoying a symptom-free life. I feel very strongly that if we had never met Dr. Monachelli, my dog would still be suffering from her condition. For that, I am eternally grateful. Additionally, the staff at BAH is like none other. Every single team member (and I know them all) has been so wonderful, caring, and helpful. I cannot express thanks enough. I have even vowed to never move again, because leaving Brookline Animal Hospital really isn't an option for me or my dog.
