My dog Hershey got into the trash and swallowed a beer bottle cap! They were very polite and professional. This hospital took her in immediately and performed surgery within an hour. She recovered quickly. We even took her in a few extra times to make sure the healing process was going well. They never charged us for that! I had insurance so the cost of the surgery wasn't bad. I highly recommend them!

I have very mixed reviews about this place. I have my 3rd dog going here right now. We started going here back in 2004. My first dog had bladder stones which they really had no idea of how to treat. they ended up telling me that she needed surgery to remove them instead of letting them pass. I trusted them and got the surgery. They stapled her up very badly..sloppy work.. 3 days after surgery she died. She was only 8. A Bichon Frise, she should have lived several more years. My second dog was going there for a little while until I decided to go somewhere else because of the prices they charge. They are VERY, VERY, VERY EXPENSIVE. So, I took her to Banfield at Petsmart on Amherst St., Nashua. My dog started coughing Weds. before Thanksgiving. Friday, i took her to the doc because of the holiday and Banfield told me she had pneumonia and gave me antibiotics. They never did any tests or xrays. By Monday, she was getting worse, so Banfield said to keep taking antibiotics. I brought her back to Banfield on Tuesday, so THEN they decided to take an xray. They said she had an enlarged heart and they don't know why, but it's ok..just give her antibiotics. Weds. I finally took her to the Animal Hospital of Nashua and they quickly realized that my dog was in deep distress, that her enlarged heart was a serious problem, and noticed that the Banfield xrays were blurred and ametuer. They immediately referred me to the Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital in Woburn THAT DAY because in their expert opinion, she needed immediate cardiac care. They didn't gloss it over just to earn themselves more money, they came through for me. I took her down there that day and unfortunately, I had to put her to sleep because they found out she had cancer in her heart that spread to her lungs and she was having trouble breathing. It took 1 week from the onset of symptoms until she had to be put to sleep. Banfield would have strung me along until she died - suffering. They did come through for me-Animal Hospital of Nashua. But, with my new puppy, I am trying to give them a chance... I am having a hard time, though. My puppy needs to get spayed and they are quoting me over $500. I'm checking around and people are telling me that it shouldn't cost more than $250 with blood work and everything included, so we will be going elsewhere for the spay. My first dog was already spayed when we started going there, my second dog was not spayed, so this is my first experience with the process. I'll stick with them, just need to watch out for the prices. Also, pick a doctor that you like and trust - there are a few good ones there. Then ONLY see that doctor. They always want to switch you around. Don't see anyone but your own doc. Some of them are young and inexperienced. Choose wisely and watch the price on EVERYTHING. Make sure you tell them if you're going somewhere else because of the price. Maybe some day, they'll get the picture. It costs $69 for a regular visit but $135 (almost double) for an emergency visit. If you want a same day visit, MAKE SURE you state you want NON-EMERGENCY and do not go to emergency if it could possibly wait until normal hours.

Went there for an emergency, with one of my cats, Upon arrival from home, after being out for a couple hours, Squirt, the youngest of my 5 cats, was bleeding heaviley from his mouth and wheezing for breath, from some obvious internal injury, We my friend and I, sat there for over an hour the cat was in oxygen, while I made payment arrangements with a relative (Since I only had $180.00 cash on me, at the time). While waiting for the phone call back, I could hear my cat crying, weather it was in pain, due to his injury, or the fact that the cat was in a cage without having any contact with me, in a strange inviroment, I couldn't take much more of it.Just when I had enough, the "assistant" came back in, asking if we received a call about payment arrangments, so they could x-ray my cat, because "he has some obvious trauma"! My friend, who came with me, obviously upset, stated that if this is about money, that he would have just put the rest on his credit card and why hadn't the cat received any care as of yet?! There explaination was, they were waiting on payment conformation, first. To add insult to the injury,They thought bringing the "manager" in to resolve the situation,(simply an intimidation factor) to take care of any conflict........Damage Done! If I, or my friend walked into any Hospital in Nashua bleeding profusisly from a head wound, the last thing (I'd hope) they would do (as a matter of fact, I know that they wouldn't do) is wait for payment arrangments, before you'd bleed to death! WHY IS MY CAT ANY DIFFERENT! Took Squirt to someone who really cares about care and not the almighty dollar! NEVER, EVER, EVER AGAIN!

This has got to be the WORST animal hospital I have ever been to. Besides the fact that they are VERY expensive (compare their prices to others.. you'll be surprised how much more your paying for the same vaccines and same lab tests) they do not care about the pets. I brought my lab Sam there in the beginning of the year and boy was that a mistake. The Doctor was very quick and to the point. I guess there is no time to get to know the patients when you have to move on to the next patient. Get em in and get em out should be their motto. Not only did the doctor rush and kept forgetting Sam's name but couldn't keep his gender straight. The doctor kept saying "she is" and "her weight..." I know he was neutered but he is still a male. I think part of the problem is that when you go to the Animal Hospital of Nashua you have a hospital but not a doctor. They have so many doctors there and they keep changing. That may not bother some but it bothers me. I want my pets veterinarian to know them and know their medical issues. A friend of mine recommended Banfield but wasn't thrilled about bringing my dogs through a Pet Smart where they are exposed to whatever the other dogs there have (kennel cough, dog flu, etc). After hesitation I brought my other lab Chloe there and boy what a difference. The doctor there had already reviewed Chloe's medical history and seemed very familiar with her even thought they never met. She needed the same vaccines and bloodwork that Sam needed and boy what a price difference. Both hospitals use the same vaccine and same lab for the bloodwork and poop analysis but what a difference in cost. I wish there was a VCA hospital in the area as I have had the best care there but until they open one here Banfield will do.
