Would give it no stars if I had a choice. A week prior to this incident, my male beagle went to another emergency vet clinic in East Syracuse. He was shaking and wouldn't stop. They hospitalized him overnight and cost me $400 and he lived. My female beagle last night, started shaking and didn't know what was wrong with her. I brought her here because I live in Camillus which is closer than going to East Syracuse again. Needless to say, my decision cost her life. They were going to hospitalize her overnight as well but they wanted $1500 which I didn't have. Because I didn't have the money, the only option given to me was Euthanasia. So as a result, my female beagle was put to sleep and we were devastated. I will never go here again. A bunch of greedy bas**rds. Its all about the money with this place. They truly don't care about pets like they should. I should have went back to East Syracuse and I would still have my dog. Going here, cost me double, $800 and I lost my dog.

Dr. Reid's level of professionalism and quality care is revolting. She refused to refund my money when I had to bring my pet to another emergency clinic for proper treatment because all this unsanitary hole did was give my pet sub cutaneous fluids. They put my pet through unnecessary pain to make money, but did not even think to look inside her mouth when I told them I thought she ate and was possibly stung by a bee in her mouth. The vet we saw then proceeded to suggest beef flavored baby food for my pet, whos breed has common allergies to beef. The whole staff was unable to comprehend the simplest of tasks and I became more knowledgeable about the staff's lunch choices than what was actually going on with my poor puppy. Dr. Reid then proceeded to argue with me over the phone and ask me why I wanted my money back when I had pet insurance. She must have forgotten her manners with her well fit figure and the fact that I pay my insurance every month. Clearly, at this point her intentions of making money outweighed her concern for the proper care of animals. This clinic is poorly run and could benefit from classes on empathy, communication skills, and customer service.

My 4 year old English bulldog lost his life at the hands of the vet taking care of him a week ago. We took him there because he was acting like he was choking on some food. My mom was giving him bites of her potato (he's had it before and did well with it) and we thought he ate it too fast and it just went down wrong..normally his breathing is a little fast and he does pant especially when hot, but this time it sounded different..like he was choking or breathing compromised. So I called there right away as it was almost 6 p.m. on a Tuesday (regular vet JUST closed for the night) so we had to take him there. We get there and they take him right in...then call us in. The vet said she called us in because she thought he was going to die, that his temperature was 106 and tongue blue, couldn't start an IV because basically to her he was FAT (he weighed close to 70 lbs which is the higher end of bulldog weight). Our regular vet never said it was a critical concern so we didn't feel it was an emergency concern to deal with. Anyway, she compared him to a 600 pound PERSON, said she'd let him rest and give him oxygen and cool him down with ice packs...did not do x-rays, blood work or anything...just oxygen and IVs. The temp came down affter a little bit, and the oxygen was in for maybe 15 minutes. Once it looked like his fever was down a little and his tongue/gums were pinking up, they told us to wait out in the waiting area as other animals were coming in..We just wanted him to be ok whatever the cost...which ran to $900 JUST for the IV and ice packs (no x-rays, no bloodwork).. We were out in the waiting area maybe 5 minutes and they called us back in, said he was crashing...she said they took off the oxygen and he was crashing, and did CPR but to no avail. Because they did CPR it came to another $300.. And he did not make it...we left $1200 in the hole and NO dog in the matter of a half an hour. I feel that this veterinarian was not very compassionate, very rushed and/or distracted and I feel that more should have been done that was not done..I did ask her about x-rays once she got his temperature down and she said if he got worse she would do them, but she never did. She pulled the oxygen and he crashed...My mom and I are absolutely devastated...we lost our baby because of hasty and no doubt INCOMPETENT care. If the choice to take him to our trusted veterinarian was an option, we would have done so. Now, we have no explanation to what actually went wrong because no tests were performed. I will not bring any of my animals there again..at least not in her care.
