They seem like a great vet when I had to put my rat down who was my everything :'( But when I started to bring both of my cats their, they are NOT good at keeping things on files! Every time I go in they tell me my cats need their vaccs and I always make sure to bring in their paper work to show them they already have them!! One time is understandable but when my cats are already patients there and going in they always screw everything up, the past 4 times I had went they had a needle ready to give my cat a shot and when I asked about it they were like he needs his rabies and it got to the point of getting soo frustrating they always try and re-give them shots they are not due for. Not to mention every time I go in they mix up my cats and every time I tell them they spelled Hobbes wrong they never fix it! It just got to be to much that I have to make sure I ALWAYS bring everything with me to RE-SHOW them what is SUPPOSE to be in my cats files already.
Our family has been taking our pets to Brockport Animal Hospital for 20 plus years. I can't say enough about how professional, kind and knowledgeable the whole team is, from the doctors to the front desk staff. They are a 5 star Animal Hospital facility.
I have been taking my pets to BAH for nearly 30 years. In that time I have found Dr. Edwards and his entire staff to be professional , caring and informative. Dr Edwards treats my families' pets as though they were his own. I trust BAH unconditionally!
Brockport Animal Hospital diagnosed my cat with diabetes in April of 2013. Started him on insulin a week after diagnosis. The first vial I bought I didn't really pay attention to because I was overwhelmed, scared, and just learning about feline diabetes. I dove right into the internet, talked to other people dealing with their own cats having diabetes, and spoke with second-opinion vets to gain as much knowledge of this disease as possible in order to help my cat. A vial of insulin is supposed to last 3 months. The first vial I got was barely a third gone when it expired. So, I bought another vial. I noticed that the expiration date on the vial said that it would expire in a month from that day. I brought this to the attention of the vet tech and she said that it was still good. That kind of confused me, but not wanting to cause a problem, I left with the vial. I began using this new vial, but my cat's blood glucose numbers didn't go down. They remained high, which is dangerous because ketones can form, which can be lethal. I called Brockport Animal Hospital and explained my thought process, and they said they'd give me a credit towards my next bottle of insulin. A credit? For what? The expired insulin you gave me? I was very upset at this point, so I went there to pick up a new vial (mind you, the vials are about 60 bucks a pop, supposed to last 3 months, and I'm on my third one in 4 months) and called them out on the expired insulin. The woman I dealt with handed me a new vial that was marked to expire THE NEXT MONTH! I asked her what was going on and why they were trying to give me old insulin. She said they made a mistake on the label and that it would still be good for 3 months. I took the vial and left. I got home and compared the old vials to the new one, and the expiration dates were a week apart! They were giving me old insulin. I called immediately to speak to the manager or vet, and they said they'd call me back. No one did. I finally got a call back last week. They left a message stating that "Due to new NYS Pharmacy Law, we are no longer allowed to 'hold" insulin. It will be ordered on an "as-needed" basis." That's pretty coincidental that I get this message now after complaining to them about receiving old insulin. So I did some research, and emailed the NYS Pharmacy and Veterinary boards letting them know what was going on. I called the vet to find out exactly what they were saying directly, and they said that the law in fact wasn't new, but they were "cracked down on". So, basically admitting they got caught giving old insulin. The girl I spoke with obviously was getting flustered speaking with me and couldn't answer my questions or assure me in any way that what I was experiencing was false. She said that she'd have the head vet manager call me back asap. No one called. I am so upset at this vet hospital for not caring about my cat's disease, just about my money. They are unprofessional in returning calls, and still have yet to return my last call about this "new insulin law" business. Feline diabetes is an expensive disease to treat, and I am fortunate to be able to care for my cat, but there are others out there who struggle and it infuriates me that this vet could be doing that to others who love their companion animals as much as I do and want them to get better. They CAN'T get better being given OLD INSULIN! If you care about your animal companions and your money, don't go here.
My ferret was diagnosed with adrenal disease at her regular vet near Utica, NY. The tumor is on her right side, so it involves her vena cava. My regular vet recommended that I visit Dr. Allen Edwards at Brockport Animal Hospital to discuss whether she is a good candidate for surgery because he is highly regarded in New York State's ferret community and performs several adrenal surgeries each year; ferrets, being so small, can be difficult to perform surgery on, which is why I drove 3 hours for this initial consultation. Dr. Edwards was open and knowledgeable and I am taking my dear pet back to him in August for surgery. My home vet and I have complete confidence in Dr. Edwards and the staff at BAH. **Dr. Edwards usually does the consult and surgery on the same day for out-of-town patients, but I opted to make the trip out for a straightforward consult so I could meet and talk to him first.
