Ok, whoever said they thought his office was posting good reviews is paranoid and insecure. This guy was great. They showed me, line by line, what each of the procedures/test would be and how much they would cost before we saw the dr and I was able to pick and choose what I wanted to do--and I didn't do everything. As soon as I walked in it was calm and clean, the person at the front desk was polite and helpful, unlike some other local places, and the Dr himself was so kind, patient, and knowledgeable--he gave me suggestions that other vets had never mentioned and knew about everything I asked, including an esoteric therapy I use for one of my cats. Especially important was that he let me hold the cats instead of the vet tech, which some vets don't let you do, and he was very thorough and told me everything he was doing. 2 days after the appointment he called me (himself, not a receptionist) to tell me the test results even though there wasn't anything wrong. Yes, I had a lot done and it was expensive, but I can't imagine it being much less elsewhere. And the experience was so worth it. PS: I've been to a lot of vets all over Brooklyn.

Several years ago, dr Roy Ja Apple 'saved my friend's dog. Yesterday he helped my dog in an emergency. Excellent work!

I have been going to Dr. Appel for over thirty years, the first time with an odd little animal that entered our lives because our family was allergic to just about everything. So, we discovered ferrets! At that time, Dr. Appel did not have a lot of ferret “clients,” but he was willing to apply his knowledge and experience to our little guy, and, as always, he was wonderful. Since ferrets only live about eight years, this dedicated doctor has taken care of many of our pets since the first. We have experienced his continual caring, his concern, and his complete professionalism. If presented with a situation he had never before encountered, he would contact a specialist in ferret diseases, and follow through until he could give us options and/or a treatment plan. I do not have enough words of praise to give to this highly committed man and terrific veterinarian. And I could not recommend him more enthusiastically. He is truly the best.

Before taking my cat to Dr. Appel, I had tried countless other vets in the Brooklyn area. I was dismayed to say the least. That all changed when I went to see Dr. Appel, he is straightforward, caring, and treats both the animals and humans with respect and dignity.

Dr. Appel and staff were great when we needed a last minute appointment with a USDA Certified Vet. International paperwork is a headache, and Dr. Appel was exactly the sort of thorough and conscientious person we needed to get everything in order and know our beloved pups would be allowed to travel internationally.
