I went to him last year and hated him and went again recently and hated him. I only went back because he is 2 blocks from my house and my cat does not travel well. He seemed to only be after my money. He either refused to listen to what I was saying or his English was too poor to understand. Even though he said she had an infection, I had to BEG him for antibiotics. She is also in pain, due to her infection, but me mentioning pain killers, multiple times, elicited no response from him. His bedside manner was very dismissive and condescending towards me and he kept on suggesting, over and over again, that I agree to pricey testing for things I didn't come in for.

I had an experience with my vet in Queens where his assistant would put my golden retriever puppy into a headlock in order to give him a shot or take his temperature. When a trainer told me that this can be traumatic for a dog (as such an experience would be to a child who grows up to fear dentists and doctors) I requested a different non-aggressive approach but the doctor refused to consider it. Needless to say I left his office and searched for another vet. I had just moved to Bay Ridge when I came across Healthy Pets and told them my story. They were very accomodating, so I made an appt and when the time came I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service and attention my dog received. While the other vet seemed more interested in $$$, this one seemed to really care and the allmighty $$$ seemed secondary; they simply never pushed me to spend on anything unnecessary. Great experiences there so far, and I've been there four times.

We had lived in Bay Ridge for 5 years and were unsatisfied with our vet on 86th Street. As soon as Healthy Pets opened, we tried it out and have been hooked ever since. Dr. Briones is so careful and attentive with our dogs (a chocolate lab and german shepherd). My chocolate lab used to get upset at the other vet when they gave shots, but with Dr. Briones' careful approach, we haven't had any problems. My german shepherd practically falls asleep in his arms! When my shep got sick and I brought her in, Dr. Briones even called me a day or so later just to check up on her and see if she was feeling better...seriously it's hard to find a vet that will give service like that! Now that we have moved out of Bay Ridge, we still make the trip back just to go to Healthy Pets for check-ups, meds, etc. If you are looking for a caring, safe and clean place to bring your pets, this is it!
