I went with my twin today to get her 8 week old puppy looked and to get shots. The receptionists were very friendly. And the woman whom put us in a room and weighed Mya was also very welcoming. Unfortunately, both my sister and I were extremely unhappy with Dr. Mix the veterinarian. We asked questions that we were curious about and she answered them as though we were stupid and as though my twin has never owed a Pit before. Also making it seem as though it isn't ok to comfort Mya when she is upset. Demanding that we not coddle Mya and to act as a master. And she kept repeating to Mya, "You have got Mommy trained!" That i find offensive since it is my twins dog and she kept referring to me as Mommy. Pits are given a bad name by many and my sister and those who surround Mya are trying to do what is right to ensure that Mya is a good dog. I think the manner in which Dr. Mix went about the whole situation was completely inappropriate. Now we will continue Mya's Veterinarian Care else where. We just wanted simply questions answered and not to leave the Vet feeling angry!
Had our first visit today at Chemung Valley Vet. Took our cat Beastie first because he has a heart condition and I did not want him to go without his meds. Dr Mix and Tammy were so good with him, he is normally very nervous and stressed around strangers and he showed no signs of either today, Big Thanks to both of you, he is sleeping very comfortable now and no itching! God Bless you all!
These folks are great. They saved my puppy a second surgery after she developed a hernia post-spay by keeping her and restricting her activity (which I, with 5 children, just couldn't seem to do). And the charges were incredibly reasonable. Not only that, since I was traveling on the day she needed to be released, and could not find anyone to go pick her up, they actually brought her home for me (babysitter and kids were here). They go out of their way to take good care of your pet. Michelle, your cat must have been pretty frantic to need sedation...everyone (people, animals) is at risk to a reaction to anesthesia. There was no way Dr. Cutler could've known your cat would have one.
This is the best place for vet care. My dog has only seen Dr. Cutler at this office but I have taken to other vets and none have been as kind, compassionate, understanding, and good at listening as him. I think that he still likes his job and he genuinely cares about the well-being of his patients. He is very thorough and is careful to understand his patient’s medical history. He is very knowledgeful and up to date on state of the art techniques. He performed surgery on my dog's stomach, cutting with a laser, he did such a good job that the scar is very minimal. Don't let the person's review about her cat being sedated turn you off from this place, they really are wonderful. Sometimes animals have an "allergy" to sedation, there is a blood test that they can perform to see if your pet has it but it can be pretty pricey. My dog also has a sensitivity to sedation that was discovered by another vet in town (I didn't like them), but his reaction was my fault because I opted to not have the test. I have taken my dog here several times for serious illnesses and I always ask for Dr. Cutler because he really knows his stuff.
