My dog had been going to this vet for 3 years and when we had a medical emergency the staff told me it was not possible to see the doctor. The staff did not even give me options or refer me to another practice. Ultimately we ended up getting a referal from another vet practice to the Cornell Animal Hospital. Unfortnately due the amount of time it took to get our dog help her condition worsened and the wonderful staff at Cornell was not able to save her. The incompetence of the Endicott Animal Hospital staff and their unwilliness to help us ultimately led to the death of member of our family. Stay away from this practice.

Updated 6.2.14: We've been using Endicott Animal Hospital since my previous review. We've added a former foster cat to our home after my other cat passed on. We've been seeing both Dr. W and Dr. Sickles who is new at the practice. Overall, still very positive experiences. The Drs, the desk staff, and the techs all treat our animals and ourselves with respect. We've had to make multiple trips out due to the newest cat having a urinary block issue. Dr W got Henry in that morning and by the afternoon we knew he'd be in overnight. The bill was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, primarily because he ended up not needing surgery. I still recommend them to everyone I meet who is looking for a vet. Previous review: Dr. W and his staff are fantastic, knowledgeable and don't pull any punches. I have two dogs, an elderly cat and my housemates have two cats and chickens. Dr W has looked over and cared for all our critters - even the guinea fowl that my dogs thought were toys (and aren't). Even though he's been very upfront about what he does and doesn't know about the fowl, he's cared for the bird calmly and patiently (and she seems to be making a good recovery more than a week after the accident). I really recommend this vet and haven't had any issues with them - Dr. W used to be very gruff but I think it had a lot to do with how little I *knew* about taking care of pets. He's really there for the animals, not my feelings (and since I'm paying them to take care of my pets and not my feelings, I'm okay with that) - but that said, he's still fantastic and has gotten less gruff over the years.

This veterinary hospital is a joke, the doctor is extremely offensive and will take any chance to make you look like a fool. The doctor's social skills are horrible, he is extremely rude and makes the whole visit feel like a waste of money. i took my dogs there for on two different occasions and ended up switching vets soon after. Every time i asked a question, the doctor replied with impatience and was extremely condescending. He is extremely rough with handling animals (and i didn't expect hi to cuddle my dogs), he's just careless. Many of these reviews say the same things, his demeanor on the phone could use some improvement, and could his social skills. I do not expect for this review to be up for long, but if you get a chance to read this, before it is deleted, please think twice before going there. There are many veterinary hospital around the area which will take a better care of your furry friend, and better doctors who will educate you on your animals health, rather than belittle you.

My family had been taking our (late) yellow lab to Dr. Wilhelm since 1992, when she was only 6 weeks old- up until her passing in September 2007. Since she had some health issues (chronic ear infections and later in life growths that needed removal) we were a frequent visitor. Dr. Wilhelm is not like your pet, he's far from warm and fuzzy, however he has a very professional demeanor which some people may take as an "attitude". He's a vet who knows his stuff. He works with Cornell Veterinary School (where he's an alum) and is very knowledgeable on the newest treatments and technology as well as what's tried and true. If you want the best care for your pet, this is definitely the place to go.

I agree with all of the other reviews here. We had been taking our two dogs and two cats to another vet for all of their routine checks. One of our dogs, however, had to go to Cornell for a week at one point. Anyway, I had to take my cat in for an emergency. When I called Dr. W, he called me back within 5 minutes. Although his attitude towards me on the phone was less then professional (so I had thought), I sucked it up and took my cat there anyway. It was late - about 10:30 PM. I arrived at the office promptly, and Dr. W was already there. The doors were unlocked, and the lights were on. I entered with my cat in a crate and broke down immediately. Dr. W took us right into the exam room. He did a few things to my cat and ultimately diagnosed him. He was professional the whole time even though I was a complete basketcase. He said that he would perform his surgery right away. The entire time I was in tears. Dr. W was very knowledgable and direct. He didn't beat around the bush, and I really appreciate that. As other people have written - he cares more about the animal then my feelings, but I wouldn't have it any other way. He also called me after my cat's surgery - at almost 1 AM, which I am so appreciative of! All in all, if you want someone who knows what they're doing, I recommend Dr. W 100%. If you need someone to hold your hand through it and care more about you then your animal, Dr. W may not be for you. Me personally? I want someone who will do whatever it takes to save my animals. Dr. W is top notch, and we will be switching all of our animals over to him.
