Being new to the Fairport area, we decided to look into potential care for our two dogs. Before changing care providers, we inquired on cost for various procedures (i.e. exams, vaccinations, medications, etc.). Amongst these inquiries was dental cleaning. The receptionist informed us that they could not provide an estimate without seeing the dogs first. Needing to know this estimate before making our choice, we brought our dogs in for the estimate. When bringing our dogs in, we reiterated our intention on possibly changing providers and they proceeded with a full physical exam prior to conducting the dental exam to provide estimate. As we gathered up to leave, we were handed a bill for nearly $100 – assessed for the physical exams (an expense to which were not informed of ahead of time). We expressed surprise at this, having not been informed of the charges – and they rebutted that physical exams were needed if the dogs were to have the dental procedures. We reiterated that we were never told this and if physical exams were needed they could have requested them from our current provider. JoAnne apologized for the “confusion” and “misunderstanding”. We further expressed that if this were truly an honest mistake causing such a misunderstanding – we would be willing to negotiate on the price of services rendered. She did not have the authority to do this on her own and noted that she would speak with Dr. Hall. After speaking with Dr. Hall, she conveyed that the charges would stand as they are. Considering this, we came away with the impression that this was no honest mistake – but a malicious intent to deceive. From other reviews here and elsewhere, the greed factor of the establishment seems to outweigh their compassion and desire to do good.

I have been using them for years and have always had a positive experience. My dog loves Dr Zarouba and the rest of the staff there. I recommend them to everyone when they get a new pet.

*Not the best and not the worst* I used this vet for years. This used to be my main vet office and I recommended it to family and friends. I'm no longer doing that because I realized I could get much better care elsewhere. I would just have to drive farther. I want them to care about my pets and not just the money. Ask questions and don't take what the vet says as gospel...To prevent unnecessary charges you should know what's in your pet's best interest. Speak up before it's too late. Been there and done that. This is a very convenient location so for emergencies I'll use this vet office. They are really good about fitting you in on extremely short notice :). However, I feel I can receive better care elsewhere and my dog means a lot to me. So I'm not willing to bring my dog here unless I have to.

If I could give them a lower rating I would. My family has been taking our dogs to Fairport for years and we had believed these doctors were trustworthy and good people. We were terribly wrong. When our 7 year old Dalmatian fell very ill we naturally rushed him to fairport to be examined. The outlook wasn't 100% from the start but Dr. Hall said he would be fine staying at their facility. I asked dr. Hall twice if my pet needed round the clock care from an emergency vet in the area he assured me that was not necessary. Within hours my dog's red blood cell count had decreased by almost half, again we asked what could be done. We were told at this point it was a "waiting game" . Within 2 days my dog was nearly dead, they had given up on him and told us he needed to be euthanized. We didn't accept this and took him to white spruce for another opinion . Our dog should've been on oxygen and should've had a blood transfusion immediately. Needless to say our beloved friend and pet did not make it. If fairport and dr. Hall had been more concerned with my dog's well being and less concerned with his paycheck my friend might still be alive. Dr. Hall took advantage of my family. Never take your pet here if your pet gets sick heaven forbid. Deeply deeply saddened and disappointed by these so called veterinarians.

The staff here is incredible, from the vets to the vet techs to the desk attendants. They have taken fantastic care of my animals and are especially gentle and compassionate towards my problem child cat. They are an amazing facility.
