A few things to expect: 1) You will know more than the front desk staff and may have to tell them that you are calling for an emergency, as they will tell you otherwise 2) Expect to sign a written estimate of services, and then be billed for others you were not informed of and then be laughed at by the staff when you complain. Why would you be upset at an extra $200 of additional services???? 3) Don’t complain or get upset (they call it irate here and write it lots of times in the charts) when you have a problem, or there will be copious personal notes about you that will be released to you for your next vet to look at, but that at least gets a laugh at your new vet when you point it out to them. 4) Do expect to wait 5 hours for the vet to call you back and suggest Metamucil for your cat, after you have had to cancel your business trip and leave several messages throughout the day. Dr. Buchanan told me she was very busy that day and in meetings. . 5) Don’t expect an acknowledgement from the Vet if you have an issue, you can guarantee that the Office Manager will intercept the emails and ‘deal’ with you. 6) The office manager will not take the time to understand why a customer could have been upset (oops, I mean irate) on so many occasions, instead of learning how to correct their processes she will tell you to ‘take your business elsewhere’. Thank goodness, I needed that extra push. 7) Do expect the front desk staff not to understand why you would be calling to inform them that both cats almost ended up in the emergency room from their 3 year booster shots and that you are calling to let them know incase it was a bad batch. 8) I was going to mention the time that we came home with subcutaneous fluids for a sick cat, thinking it was to get him temporarily back on track only to find out this was a daily process for his life, and lose him a few weeks later…but at this point someone reading this is going to ask why I stayed so long. (I concur) 9) Last but not least, I have just returned from our new vet, who I was not a client of until this morning, but who had been recommended to me by several people, and they got me in immediately, the front desk staff did not have to consult with the doctor if it was ok, recognized it was an emergency and the vet had a diagnosis and treatment done in an hour. 2 follow up calls since, to tell me he is ok and that they emptied what looked like a salt shaker of crystals from his bladder…..and this is the issue that I just paid $777 for at Hopewell Animal Hospital a week ago, and was sent home with inconclusive results.
I don't usually write reviews, but I was so impressed by Hopewell Animal Hospital I had to share my experience with all of my fellow animal lovers. The staff at Hopewell Animal Hospital are absolutely amazing. We just got a brand new Boxer pup and when we brought him in for the first time, everyone came out to greet him with toys, treats, and lots of hugs and kisses! Dr. Scheck is wonderful! He is loving, kind and very informative. He was very patient and understanding of all my questions and concerns as a new puppy mommy, and after he examined my puppy he sat on the floor with him for 15 extra minutes just to try and teach him how to lay down! I highly recommend them to anyone in the area who needs pet care, they are just great!
All the doctors here are wonderful. They got my worm-ridden shelter rescue in tip top shape amazingly quickly! Very nice staff as well. Highly recommend.
