We have been taking our 3 cats to this vet for over a year now. I have no doubt that all the staff here are competent and friendly. As another reviewer pointed out, we do often get different vets depending on what time and day we bring our animals in, but it's usually not a problem. In general, I feel like they are very thorough and run every possible test when they are trying to make a diagnosis. This is can be good when you're concerned but also very expensive. I also think that they are more expensive than most vets for similar procedures and visits. They recommended that we get our cat's tooth pulled because it had a cavity. So we did and it cost more than what it cost to get 5 of my brother-in-law's cat's teeth pulled at a vet in Kingston. So I thought that was pretty surprising. Besides price though, my only other real complaint is that they sometimes don't call you to tell you results of tests if the test is negative, (even if they say they will), which is a little aggravating. All in all, a good vet if you can afford them, though.

I went to LAHC for my lizard for about a couple years or so, and then brought my dog in for the last year. Dr Lender was my lizard vet and was very good to deal with. I've dealt with many vets who claim to be able to treat all exotics and had even once had a vet tell me to feed vegetables to my lizard as the main diet (not every lizard follows the diet of a Bearded Dragon, unknown to that guy). So I've run the gamut with 'exotic' pets and luckily Dr Lender is on the better side of that spectrum. She continually treated my lizard and even referred me a few times to a vet school down at Cornell when I needed some surgery done on my lizard. Very satisfied with Dr Lender. Its hard to find exotic pet vets when you are not in a huge location like NY or Miami (especially considering exotic pets arent a huge boom in Central NY, and I was just in that area for school at the time), so I was glad to have found her there. Dr Wolfer worked on my dog and was pretty good. Hes incredibly nice and seems knowledgeable, although he continually recommended me a special Science Diet dental food for my dog, but after my own research decided the ingredients in SD are inferior to the food I was feeding at the time (Wellness Core), so I opted not to go that route and stick with some raw bones to deal with dental issues. I definitely do not believe the premium of the dental dog food would have been worth it, but I believe most vets always try to push their SD or whatever brand they stock/are sponsored by, so Ive come to accept it. Otherwise, he was great to deal with as far as everything else needed for my dog. Overall the place is nice, satisfactory, with a few improvements can be great. The dog run in the back can be spattered with dog poop, so more frequent cleanings by the staff in the back can be great, the prices are pretty crazy (my lizard bills have probably exceeded 5K or more in the entire time I've brought there, as well as boarding for my dog was like nearly 40 a day or so), and as with most vets the wait is a lot longer than I would like, especially when I had an appt already scheduled. The desk staff is very nice, otherwise.
