I have to say that I was very happy with the level of care and compassion my dog Lucy received at Animal Emergency Services in Selden. Every Dr. I encountered took the time to explain things and go over options. The front desk staff was wonderful, LouAnn, Jackie and whoever else I encountered were ready to answer questions and be supportive. The tech girls in the back, took such loving care of Lucy. While I pray I never have to go back, I am very thankful a place like this exists for our furry, four legged family members. Highly recommend them.
HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE!!! I loved Dr. G. but I hate the place and its policies. After coming home to bloodbath, I learned that my lab puppy had a small cut on the tip of his ear that had apparently exposed a major artery. After three hours of holding him down, applying pressure, ice and baking soda nothing would stop or slow the bleeding. I then raced to the Emergency Pet Vet and learned that it would cost me over $800 to sedate him and apply one to two stitches (PRETTY STEEP!!) and that I had to pay in full for them to do anything. Well, it was the middle of the night, I had gone unexpectedly and my husband was out of town on business, I had NOTHING on me. So lo and behold, I had to take my dog home, not before being charged $125.00 for the emergency fee, basically gauze. I spent the entire night laying on the floor holding towels on his ear and praying it would stop. No compassion, no understanding, no payments, nothing. Sent me home and said good luck!! Would NEVER go back and highly recommend no one else go either.
The staff here is so compassionate and caring. Everyone worked with me to make sure I could stay in my financial budget. They are a business and if they didn't charge they couldn't operate! My pet was treated kindly and I was seen quickly. The vet was patient with my questions and didn't rush me. They also take in stray dogs that people find and they take wild animals at no charge to the public. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone! Their prices are the lowest on the island and they kept me informed every step of the way!
My cat and I had such kind, compassionate and informative care. Walking in the door the receptionist was so nice and she listened and helped. She should train other people because it seems so often that people in her job are cranky and unfriendly. She was my first impression coming in. She was calming and helpful until we left. The people who treated my sweet cat were kind to him and me. Even though his problem was icky to deal with, they treated both of us with compassion. Now he is on the mend with their treatment and instructions. I think a good staff makes all the difference, and the people who helped us were great. Thank you!
We brought our dog to this facility because she had suddenly lost control of her hind legs. The vet suggested they keep her over night for xrays and "further testing". In the morning we learned they had only treated her for pain and only had time for one xray because they were "too busy." They suggested we leave our dog there until 5 (more money). When we refused, they informed us she needed to see a neurologist immediately. The worst part of this is that they knew this since the night before when they had done the initial xray (the only one they did) and instead of referring us to a neurologist then, they wasted precious hours of our dogs life when she could have been treated. It sickens me to think about this. When we arrived at the neurologist and saw the MRI results we learned there was too much damage to our dogs spine and pain medication was not supposed to be given because it promotes movement. We also learned that the severe damage had occurred in the last 24 hours. We had brought her in too late and there was nothing they could do. The only humane thing would be to put her to sleep. Which we had no choice at this point but to do. This clinic charged us $1300 and kept our dog overnight...when they knew they couldn't treat her. I would strongly consider another option
