I began bringing my dog to Fairmount Animal Hospital 3 years ago when I moved to the area. My dog sees Dr. Guest and I can not recommend her enough. She is very caring and personable. Dr. Guest takes the time to explain everything to you and covers all the bases. My appointments take longer than other places I have gone to in the past but that is because they are extremely thorough. The fees at Fairmount Animal Hospital are also higher than other places but I will gladly pay more and cut more time out of my day for the thoroughness and heart that Fairmount Animal Hospital provides. A pet is part of the family and that is just how they are treated there. You can tell that they really love what they do!! If you want a cheap and quick vet appointment then Fairmount Animal Hospital is not for you but just remember, you get what you pay for and for quality care, expect to pay more for a longer appointment. If quality care is what you value, then Fairmount Animal Hospital is for you!!

I started taking my dog to Fairmount Animal Hospital as a puppy because that was where he had gone before I adopted him. He has since been many times for regular checkups and a couple of minor complications, and he has seen several of the veterinarians. I have found the entire staff to be very welcoming and helpful, and they truly do seem to care about the well-being of the pets. As an over-worried 'mom,' I have called several times within a day to talk to the doctors and technicians, and they are always willing to listen and offer advice. The facilities are very nice, and the hours accommodate many working schedules. Their only downfall is their prices. Even routine procedures are very costly, but you pay for what you receive.

I love this place they have always helped me out when I needed it ... I had to put my baby to sleep and I can say that Sue did a great job even after they even called me and Sue explained how I did the right thing cause no baby ( they are my children and baby no matter how old they get she was 14 years old ) should go through life not living to the happiest they can be. She made me feel okay with what I did and explained anything I questioned.not much i can say for the animal er I still to this day not okay with the fact I had to put one of my other big baby down cause they never explained nor made me feel okay with it. Recently I had to take my baby Kit in who is a cat and they did a great job with her she was happy and comfortable after her surgery.. They are a bit on the high side for pricing but hey nothing is to much when it comes to my little four legged family.. one way or another I know they need health care too and wanted them to be in good hands .. Again this is my second time with Sue taking care of one of my children and she is wonderful... Thank you all there for being so understanding and helping me when I had no where else to turn ..

We have had very positive experiences at Fairmount. We see Dr. Andrea Lee, who is very helpful and had some great suggestions for the separation anxiety our current rescue dog has. I think one of the best services Fairmount did for us was to come to our house when it was time to say goodbye to our beloved 14 year old beagle. They have a very caring staff, even when we are just visiting for a nail trim! Recommend!

Viewers: please read. About a year ago, November 2013, my family's 3 year old, pure bred, healthy golden had a small cut in her paw (about .25 inches, requiring no more than 3 stitches). As trusting dog owners, we took her to Fairmount Animal Hospital to get stitches. The veterinarians assured us that the proper way to treat her was to put her under anesthesia and cauterize the cut. As trusting dog owners, we complied. Our dog was not kept overnight at the hospital, but was sent home after awakening from the anesthesia. As trusting dog owners, we did not question this protocol. The next morning, our dog had numerous complications: she was not eating, her breathing was shallow, she was not her lively self, and she started bleeding from her nose. After the third phone call to Fairmount Animal Hospital, and being told to wait to try to feed her because she probably was having side affects from the anesthesia, we brought her in at 10 am, where she hemorrhaged and died at the hospital. After her death, we learned that the veterinarians never weighed her before giving her anesthesia. We also learned that she threw up after being given the anesthesia, right before a breathing tube was pushed down her trachea, causing any vomit that still remained in her tract to be pushed down into her lungs, causing aspiration. Not only did we lose a beautiful, healthy puppy, we also lost our trust for Fairmount Animal Hospital, and we do not recommend their care to any dog owner. We had two other vets say they don't understand why FAH gave Nala anesthesia for such a small incision. We think they just needed to fund their new beautiful hospital and were not expecting this procedure to go so awry.
