After taking my cat to my regular vet and having blood tests and x-rays, he was referred to a specialist vet for further testing. I took him to VMC Long Island where he had a sonogram of the heart. Sadly, the news was not good and I had to say goodbye to my beloved cat. While this was a VERY emotional time, I found the doctor and the staff to all be very kind and compassionate. As far as pricing, this is a specialist facility and as such, comes with experienced professionals, expensive equipment and a large staff. I was expecting it to be priced accordingly-as my regular vet was. I did not have pet insurance which I am sure would have helped. The cost was fully explained to me and I was offered Care Credit financing-which I took advantage of. Given the circumstances, I left feeling good about how I was treated and all of the decisions I needed to make. I would certainly choose them again if need be.
This place is a rip-off. You can go to any other veterinary specialist outside of the metropolitan area and pay 1/3 of the price of what they charge. Be assured that when they give you the estimate your going to pay the high price not the low and then maybe even more that that. They charge you for services that aren't even necessary. Very, very sad how they take advantage of the public…..it's all about the money.
Don't EVER go there if you know what's good for your animal! I took my ferret there a year ago. The "doctor" told me that he had an abnormal mass by his spleen and that if I didn't put him down he would die within two months!! Good thing I have veterinary science under my belt and a father who is a doctor! I told her to just give him fluids and he could pass on at home. She told me that was cruel and didn't recommend it but I didn't care. When the fluids were all done my boyfriend and I went to pay and the two receptionist were on the computer looking at watches! How unprofessional! If I was at the animal hospital where I work and I did that I would be fired! Needless to say we had approximately a $1000 vet bill from them! And it's been a YEAR LATER and my ferret is still EATING DRINKING AND BEING HIS NORMAL SELF!!!! GOD I would have NEVER forgiven myself if I would have done what the "doctor" had told me to do!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!
VMCLI is an Awful, Horrible, Disgusting excuse for a "Practice" - TERRIBLE Doctors who possess INCOMPETENCY at it's most disturbing, nauseating Level - to a point at which I said, "Are you kidding me?" This has got to be a JOKE. The Doctors and Staff have NO knowledge of how to Treat a Client or their Pet. They are WAY overpriced. Prepare to spend your Life Savings here. The Fees are ASTRONOMICAL. It is also VERY Dirty, smelly & hairy. Doesn't anyone know how to clean at this Place? I wouldn't go here if it were the last Vet Practice on Earth. I do NOT recommend. If you go, the JOKE will be on you. In addition......What ever you do, DO NOT GO SEE DR. SEAN HILLOCK. To be more specific: He is awful, awful, awful, with a terrible attitude.. Not only does he NOT KNOW enough about certain Medical ISSUES, and SIDE EFFECTS from MEDICATION, he lacks COMMON COURTESY, and BASIC COMMUNICATION SKILLS. He literally DISGUSTS ME & I wouldn't go see him if he were THE LAST VET ON EARTH. They're also a Referral ONLY Based Practice (where you need a Referral from your Pet's regular Vet in order to even get an Appointment) - They won't see you otherwise. So you have to pay for a Regular Vet Visit on Top of seeing these CLOWNS. I suggest you keep looking for a much better place to bring your Pet, in all seriousness. I also truly believe any good Reviews of VMCLI are planted here by the Staff or Owners. They can't possibly be true.
DO NOT GO THERE PLEASE !!! We went there because our cat was vomiting since a few days, she was stressed because we had just moved. We already knew what was wrong, she often vomits due to stess. She just needed an anti-vomiting shot. The blond lady, after examining the cat, took her in the back room for no reason. She came back 15 min later with a bill of $700 dollars (blood test, x-ray and I don't remember what else). We refused and she was trying to make us believe that she ate a piece of plastic or an object. We insisted and finally got a bill of $150 for an anti-vomiting shot. They took the travel bag with them... 30 min after, we still didn't know what was going on with our cat. She was still in the back room. They finally called us so we take her out of the cage because they could not do it... Seems like she bit someone but she never bit someone ever before this. The question is : What is my cat doing in a cage and what did they do to her so she bits someone ?!?! We went in the back room, it was full of cages along the wall. My previous cat was in there terrified, I took her in my arms and they did the anti-vomiting shot which means that she was for aroung 45 minutes for no reason in a cage, when she could have stayed with us. They tried to tell us that it was a big mistake not to pay for all these tests. We took her back home and we realized that she had a claw on her back foot missing and full of blood. What the heck did they do to her ? It has been 5 days. Our cat is not vomiting, she is alright with this issue but she has difficulties to walk because of her missing claw. It is very painful for her and we are going to have to visit another vet for this... That was the worst veterinarian experience that we ever had !!!
