All three of my animals have gone to the Steubenville Veterinary Hospital. The staff is always kind, the doctor is not only professional, but also, compassionate. I wouldn't take my four-legged furry children anywhere else!
This office is terrible. They make you wait for 45 minutes or more even when you have an appointment. You would think this is a busy ER in a big city or something for how long they make you wait--but I never see more than 1 or 2 other people in there at a time. Even more importantly, the vet himself is a total shmuck. You can practically smell the arrogance dripping off of him as he quickly prods your animal and invariably tells you that you need to pay $200 more for this or that procedure "just to be safe." These people are BUSINESS-men, not animal lovers, pure and simple. Go to this vet if you want to sit in an empty waiting room for an hour and have the doctor do nothing but try to sell more and more expensive products and procedures to you.
I had an unfortunate visit with this animal hospital. I had called and made an appt to have one abandoned female cat and her 4 kitten litter put down. Yes, I tried all the local humane socs, freecycle, craigslist and petfinder to find them homes. Over the phone, they told me it would cost $50. When I went to the appt, it cost $168 and the vet was extremely unfriendly that I was putting healthy animals to sleep even though I explained why I had to do so. I was very unhappy with the experience. I was also disappointed that they call themselves a hospital but don't have service 24hrs. They have an answering service that refers patients to a hospital all the way in Robinson Township.
I took my two dogs (one of which I rescued from the pound) to receive vaccinations before I boarded them this summer. I was in one room, both dogs were weighed, injected then released. I went to pay and they said it would be $86. They charged me $31.00 per dog plus the two shots claiming that they both had a full exam. If that is their idea of an exam all of our animals are in trouble. I tired to ask them if this policy was necessary and they kept stating it was the vet's policy but he would never come to the phone to talk about it. Here I try to save a dog's life and do the responsible thing and get him vaccinated and I have to pay dearly for it. I will never go again!
