My dad is 92 yrs. old. His only companion was his little dog that was almost 18 yrs. old. She had been declining in health, eye and ear problems in addition to incontinence. During a 2 wk. period I believe, we took her in twice, and she had lost a 3rd of her normal weight(according to the last visit.) She was also drinking enormous amounts of water for her size, and from what I understand this can indicate serious illness. The vet. told my dad he could do an ultra-sound to determine if she had cancer......I said nothing, but should have. A 17 yr. old dog with cancer would not be a candidate for surgery or any other treatment. He told him the ultra-sound would cost $700.00!!!!!! I don't know if the vet heard me, but I asked him what they could do if she did have cancer. He didn't answer me. He knew the dog was dying, I knew it, and I'm quite sure the tech. did too. Preposturous!!!!!!! Instead of telling my dad that she was at the end of life, he gave her a shot that stopped her vomiting and gagging all day long, which she had been doing for over a month; of course these symptoms resumed within a week, however my dad had been given hope. I don't know how much he charged for the meds. and shot, but I do know for a fact he was charged $700.00 for the ultra-sound. It was sad to see my poor, sweet dad holding his only friend he had left as all his Army buddies and friends have died. Then a vet. having the audacity to do an ultra-sound on a dog that he clearly knew was dying. My dad has a little savings, but I can tell you he would have spent his last dime to save his dog. This vet gave him a false sense of hope!!! Shame on him, and I honestly don't know how he sleeps at night when he takes advantage of people, especially the very elderly! The dog died a terrible death within 2 weeks, and the vet. never mentioned putting her down. *****NOTE***** I do not want my dad to know I've written this review because it would upset him, so anyone with Neel's are requested not to call him.........his health is not good either, and I don't want the extra stress put on him, however if you would like to reimburse the unnecessary $700 for the ultr-sound that he shouldn't have paid in the first place, that would be welcome.

Horrible place. If its an emergency and something simple they may be ok. If its something complicated...its a crap shoot. Unfortunately we lost that gamble. They completely missed the diagnosis on our cat. When confronted the doctors avoid the clients like they have a plague. Frustrating to have such astronomical prices for horrible services.

I'm a rescuer, and I take the snakes and lizards I rescue to Dr. Minson at Neel Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Minson is very caring, and all the vet techs are also very caring. All of the staff display genuine concern and care for the animals as well as for the human companions of the animals. I have taken animals ranging from merely underweight but overall good health to very, very ill or seriously injured to this vet; Dr. Minson clearly cares about each of them very much, and he is also wise enough to speak frankly when an animal is too ill or too seriously injured to save. He is also very honest when an animal is a carrier for a disease that could have fatal repercussions for my own animals. I appreciate his honesty, his pragmatism, and his passion for caring for all animals.

Though their animal vaccinations are expensive, they give exceptional care to the animals. (I have my pets vaccinated with a vet I've used for many years.) Also, Neel recommends more shots than I am comfortable giving to my four-legged children. Anyway, overall, I have had very positive experiences with Neel Vet Hospital. They have given excellent attention to my animals. All of my pets get medical treatment (including major surgeries), emergency care, and boarding at Neel Vet. When my dogs were younger, I was so afraid to board them because I thought they wouldn't behave with other dogs during social hour (or at a dog park). Boarding them was the best thing my husband and I could have done. They blossomed! They intermingle well with the other dogs when we go to the vet for any reason. Neel Vet staff go the extra mile to treat our pets. They show compassion when they work with them. Sure, I pay for all of this on my bill, but I don't mind when I know my pet has been well-cared for. It used to be that when you called Neel Vet you would be greeted by an automated answering system. That is NO longer the case. For that, I am very glad. It was annoying. There is more hospitality and expressions of care for the owners and the pets when I live human being answers the calls. I DEFINITELY recommend Neel Veterinary Hospital.

We've taken our dogs here for a year, staff has never been very personal. Today we took our two dogs for "daycare" and vaccines, and had worst experience ever at a vet. Our Yorkie has obviously been bitten/attacked while at the clinic, she can hardly walk and seems terrified since we've picked her up. Speaking of picking up our dogs, another persons insane pitbull jumped up on my wife in the lobby with bloody paw (sensing a trend here) tearing holes in her shirt, then head butting my wife causing her nose to bleed profusely .... While the pitbull owner scurried out of the office, and the staff acting like nothing had happened and dumb founded! We'll never go back - extremely disappointed!!
