These folks are great! I used to live in Altoona and for many years I took all my animals there. The techs are awesome and the vet is super nice. They truly understand how much we all love our pets!
About a year ago, my then 12 year old dog began developing a tumor on her side. It wasn't intrusive to her lifestyle, so we let it go, and the tumor got larger. She then had a cyst on her eye, so we took her to this vet. Over time it was decided we would have him operate to remove the tumor and cyst in the same day. When we picked our poor baby up, she had an incision that was easily 8 inches long, with horrific tube hanging out of it. Because she was nervous and excited to see us when we picked her up, she tried pulling on the leash and fell on the vet's floor, and began bleeding. The staff, instead of making us feel better by checking her out to make sure she was okay (you know, since thats kind of why we pay them), they handed us a roll of paper towels and left us try to get her into our vehicle, bleeding, disoriented, all the while I was visibly upset. The vet told us that the tumor was just a fatty build up, and not cancer, so we finally got her home and nursed her as best as we could. Two weeks ago, she started acting strange, and we took her back to the vet (I was not pleased we were returning to the same vet, but she was sick and he knew her medical history, so I conceeded). When they did xrays, they found that she was full of cancer, and within 10 minutes of the xrays being done, she passed away. The hair hadn't even grown back fully from the surgery yet. With a little more research we could have saved her quite a deal of stress in her final months, as well as heartache for my family. I will never again take an animal to this establishment. In my opinion, they failed to do the two most important aspects of any vet's job; look out for the health of my animal, and make us, her family, feel as though they gave a damn about looking out for her health.
I love this vet... they did wonders on my 2 Bulldogs Sprint and Danica... They had demodectic mange ... Everytime i call in and tell them my name they know the names of my dogs. my dogs love them... They are excited to go there still even if it is just for a check up... They cut us cost everytime they can and i would never take them to another vet.. we even took our moms dog there and they came out tp the car to help us in with Shadow never even seeing him before and helped us in with him... he was so sore and couldn't even walk... They are amazing.. I have told all of my friends about them and they love them... you will see their reviews soon
Expect to wait. I like prompt service and do not like being put on hold over 15 minutes / being made wait in the waiting room 15 - 20 minutes... As I am standing in the waiting room now I am questioning my decision to have my dogs surgery done here. The staff is very helpful and will give kennel cough shots without a vet fee. But may not be worth the wait...
