My experience with Blair Animal Hospital has been fantastic for over 15 years. Both of my dogs give them "two paws up"! Everyone in the office is compassionate, courteous and professional. They are always willing to accommodate early morning, late afternoon or Saturday morning appointments. When leaving I always have a complete statement and very clear instructions for any medications. It also includes upcoming shots or treatments and a complete weight history. Reminders are also sent so we're always up to date. They price match on heart worm and flea treatments so I get a great price without worrying about whether or not it's top quality product. I've had to call the emergency number a couple of times over the years and I've always reached someone quickly. If it were possible to give 6 stars I would. 5 for the great performance of the vets and staff and an extra star for saving my Golden Retriever's life by performing surgery (late on a Friday). We LOVE Blair Animal Hospital.
I have taken my pets to Blair Animal Hospital for years. I cannot think of one negative experience I had at their hospital. The doctors and staff are so informative, caring and compassionate. Dr.Blizzard went above and beyond for my pets. I recommend Blair Animal Hospital to everyone that has furry friends!!
My mother brought one of our two cats, Jack 2-years old, to the Altoona Veterinary Hospital on September 26th because he hadn t been eating for a couple of days. The lady ran an in-house blood test and said he had an infection. She gave us antibiotics and said to give it to him twice a day, 12-hours apart and he would be better in 48-hours. On Friday, September 28th, my mother went down stairs to check on him because she wanted to try and feed him. When she walked into the living room, Jack was laying in front of the TV, gone. I would not recommend going to the Altoona Veterinary Hospital. I do not want to speak on the two main vets there though, because they were apparently out of town so I don t know what they would have done differently. RIP Jack.
I have taken pets here for over 20 years and I absolutely love the staff and the care. Appointments are easy to make and hours are flexible. The only drawback is that the office is somewhat small, which can be crowded when you get a big dog or two in the front. One tip is to park in the back, on the side, which makes getting in & out much easier.
