DR SLIWA SAVED THE LIFE OF MY CAT ! ★★★★★ i give my highest recommendation to All Pets Hospital in Greensburg, PA. i have rescued many cats and dogs so i have visited several vets in the western PA area & i think All Pets Hospital gives better care than any of them. 3 months ago, my cat literally stopped eating & drinking after an injury & i have been feeding him through an eye dropper ever since. i consulted with another facility (which treated him after the initial injury & had implanted a temporary wire into his broken chin). they recommended that i FILE DOWN his teeth because they were cutting into his gums. well, i knew that was not at the heart of the issue of him not eating. they also prescribed a strong stimulant medication. not only did it not help him eat - but it only made him act high which made it even more difficult to feed him with an eye dropper after 3 months of the initial injury & after the wire was removed, my cat had lost half of his weight because an eye dropper was not an adequate way to supply him with nutrition. last week, i went to All Pets Hospital for a consult. dr sliwa took a reasonable approach & switched the medication to one that is not as harsh on the liver (he is not a young cat) & gave him a vitamin B shot to boost his health since he had lost so much weight & he showed me how to apply high-calorie paste directly into my cat s mouth as a more efficient way to increase caloric intake. he also ran blood tests to check for underlying disease. well, yesterday (within a week of my visit to All Pets Hospital) i discovered an abcess on his jaw. i realized that all along my cat had that abscess at the site of injury (& where the wire had previously been placed) for the past 3 months & that is why he had not been eating! the reason i knew this was because it must have been a festering bacterial dry-socket in his jaw, but when he received the vitamin B shot at All Pets last week, his immune system got a much needed boost; allowing his white blood cells to attack the bacteria, thereby causing the 3 month old abcess to come out & make itself present. i brought him back to All Pets Hospital yesterday & dr sliwa lanced the abcess which had been filled with pus. i went home with an antibiotic regimen & WITHIIN 12 HOURS he started eating on his own! the next day he started drinking on his own! after 3 months of family & friends telling me to euthanize my cat i went to dr sliwa, & within 1 week, my cat did a COMPLETE 180 ! another great thing about All Pets Hospital is that you are guaranteed to get an experienced vet (dr sliwa) and not a new trainee fresh out of vet school (as can happen when you go to a huge vet facility) if you want a sensible and intelligent approach to veterinary medicine, then go to All Pets Hospital.
Very professional office and vet service. Dr. Sliwa is absolutely fantastic. He saved my dog after severe stroke and quickly diagnosed the Lyme disease. Dog recovered quickly and now 3 years latter I can still enjoy my 12 years old buddy company. Dr Sliva and his friendly staff are highly recommended!
He know his stuff, I have seen him work on anything from ferrets to lizards. We had a cat the kidney failure due to melamine in the food, due to his care the cat lived for 2 more happy years. I highly recommend him.
Do not go to this office! Do not see this vet! What kind of vet refuses to see a sick puppy? This one!!! If I could give this place a negative rating, I would. My 5 year old maltese puppy was vomiting for 27 hours straight. I suspected it was because I had given her a new type of heartworm med (Interceptor) with her breakfast the day before. I took her into the office and explained the situation to Dana (the receptionist). Here's the start of the problem: Dana likes to play doctor. Dana immediately began to tell me that it could not possibly be the Interceptor that's the problem. (OK, I'm just gong by cause and effect, but I'm certainly willing to listen to what she had to say.) Dana exhibited such a rude, mouthy demeanor I could not believe it. She took my dog's temp, (which exhibited a fever), and when I asked what might have caused the fever, she responded "a virus" in a very rude, mouthy way. TOTAL rudeness and lack of professionalism. However, my dog was sick and needed to see a vet, so I set up an appointment with the doctor for later in the morning. I told Dana that when I returned, I wanted to return the Interceptor medication, that I would like a refund, and that I planned on asking the doctor to write a prescription for another heartworm med that my dog had previously taken with no ill side effects. Dana proceeded to tell me that the doctor would never agree to write a prescription for another heartworm med, because "their office" didn't think the other brand was good enough to carry, and the doctor would never accept that liability. How does she know what the doctor will and will not do? I didn't know, but I planned on discussing this with the doctor later, so I left. 1/2 an hour later Dana called me, telling me (are you ready for this?) NOT TO BOTHER TO COME IN, AND SAYING THE DOCTOR DID NOT WISH TO SEE ME OR MY PUPPY BECAUSE OF MY ATTITUDE.) I was (and still am) floored. I cannot even fathom how I was treated here, but more importantly, how my sick little puppy was treated. This supposed "vet" refused to treat an obviously sick little dog. That's unforgivable to me. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOLE IN THE WALL ESTABLISHMENT!!! I cannot in good conscience ever recommend a veterinarian who (1) would hire such a rude, incompetent woman on his staff (who likes to play doctor when she isn't one) ; and (2) who would refuse to see a sick, 7.5 lb dog because of what a member of his staff tells him. Absolutely unreal. It's funny: when I took my puppy to another (absolutely wonderful) vet later that day, he did not disagree with me that the Interceptor medication was the likely cause of my dog's vomiting. Although it's a good medication, it just did not agree with my dog. It's funny, "doctor Dana" was wrong about this. Dana should stop trying to play doctor when she isn't one!
I just took my pet I for the first time. Office seemed pretty small. Had no problem getting an appointment. The support staff was very friendly when I went in and each time that I called. The doc was sweet to me and my pet.
