I had such high hopes for this place because when my husband took our older dog there, he had a great visit! I guess he got a different vet than we did. He said he had the guy doctor and we had the girl when I went. Anyway, I took our almost two year old 80lb pit mix. in for his yearly shots. He has never EVER had a bad reaction at the vet, and I really didn't see this coming. Looking back, it could have been prevented. They did all the hard stuff first (needles and blood work) and left the room for a good ten minutes turning my dog into a scared, anxiety ridden mess. When they came back, they expected him to trust them and let them examine him, which didn't happen. He didn't trust them anymore. Would you? Anyway, he was stressed out and in an effort to get them away from him (and me, we were on the floor in the corner of a small exam room) he went after them, at which point I had to muzzle my animal (who, by the way, I've never even seen growl at a human before) and was told not to let my dog around kids/people anymore and to muzzle him when we go out because of what he is now capable of. Seriously? I found the entire visit extremely unprofessional. The vet tech wouldn't even come back into the room because she was scared of my dog and he is now labeled at this hospital. If he wanted to hurt them, he would have. I found the whole experience extremely upsetting and will be taking my pets elsewhere from now on.
Best animal hospital ever!! The staff are competent, courteous, and professional. The vet techs have great bedside manner. Carlotta and Michelle were very sweet with my Connor when he came in with an ear ache. Dr. Jamie knows her patients and treats you like family.
I took my pet there as she was experienced very labored breathing. The VERY LOUD vet tech voiced her speculations (inaccurately). The doctor was rather negative and insensitive too, stating worst case scenarios without complete exam, even stating that some pets die on the x-ray table. X-rays were required but their machine was broken, which was discovered with my dying cat stuck in the room, without us. They never put her in oxygen, they didn't IMMEDIATELY examine her, waited way too long for a broken x-ray machine, etc. There was no sense of urgency, or compassion shown. Beware.
I love the vets at coventry animal hospital and the staff is friendly as well. Two years ago my german shephard ate something she shouldn't have and when i took her to coventry they found she had an intestinal blockage. Dr Gardner wasted no time and she drove sheba to ludwigs corner where she had the surgery and they took excellent care of her after the surgery. They definately put the pets first. They didnt' ask for the payment for her surgery or post op they were just focused on getting her better. When i picked her up at ludwigs corner i was able to make payment arrangements. They've been my vets since i had my golden retriever rockey who since has passed but, i trust them with my pets. Contrary to that i'd wouldnt' take my worst enemies dog to metropolitan hospital where your money is more important to them than your pets.
Excellent practice. All of the vets are extremely compassionate and take the time to get to know your family life and your pet in order to implement the most effective treatment plan for each condition. All options are always considered and everyone is part of the decision. They make every effort to see your pet in the event of an illness despite having a busy schedule. We can honestly say that every vet within the practice is equally as professional. We're always at ease with anyone that happens to be available. Top notch team.
