I have been taking my animals to Buffalo Gap Road Animal Clinic for years. The vet is great and I love that I never have to wait long before we get in. I think the services are excellent, overall it is a very good business. All in all the services are very good and the staff are very approachable and nice people.

These negative reviews of Dr. Hitchcock infuriate me. I have used him for several years for all my animal's needs. His no nonsense approach may not be appreciated by all, but you can't please everyone all the time. It is not his job to faun over your animal. That's YOUR job. His job is to make sure your animal is healthy. He has never once been rough with any of my animals. He talks to them when they need something unpleasant done such as a shot or a thermometer up their bum. He does not however talk to them in baby talk and gush all over how cute they are, which is what I think this woman probably wanted him to do. I do not have one single complaint about this man or his skills. I will continue to use him and suggest others do the same. My animals are very precious to me as I feel they are gifts from God. I would not entrust them to someone who would do the things this man has been accused of doing. Shame on you lady for trying to tear down this man's reputation.

The comments below are no reflection of the exceptional experience I have had with Dr. Hitchcock. He has handled both my dogs and cats, vaccinations, neuters and euthanasia with kindness and compassion and at a cost far below the bigger clinics. I cannot believe that this is anything other than a huge misunderstanding on the part of an overly sensitive individual. Please ignore this rant and go see for yourself what kind of vet Dr. Hitchcock is. Listening to internet rants and judging is ridiculous and childish. It is obvious from my interactions with him that he is not in it for the money, but for the love of animals.

My name is Mark A. Hitchcock and I am writing this letter to address allegations posted on several internet sites including Facebook and Yelp by Ms. Lindsey Roberson about my conduct on January 8, 2014. Let me first offer my sincere apology to Ms. Roberson. I may have barked some instructions about where I wanted animals placed in cages and I did offer commentary on her concern about the animals not needing food at the clinic for the afternoon recovery. I told her after care instructions would be given at pick up and they would be able to eat at home that night. I said nothing about stupid questions. Ms. Roberson’s return to the clinic after first leaving and expressing concern about leaving her animals caught my attention while she was talking to my wife. My wife said that Ms. Roberson was concerned about my tone. First, I asked what the problem was and that I was sorry for the misunderstanding. I said that she should just leave her animals for surgery and pick them up in the afternoon. Ms. Roberson continued to express concern about leaving her animals and wanting to take them with her. I told her that if she felt that way, maybe she should not leave them. Again I said I was sorry. At that point, she stated that she wanted to take them home. We loaded Ms. Roberson's cats back into the carrier which I carried out to her car and placed in her back seat. She carried the dog. Her son accompanied her. I did not throw or roughly handle her animals and I did not harass or insult her in any manner. I told her I thought she was over reacting because of hurt feelings. I came back into the clinic to continue my duties. The 5 or 6 other clients who were dropping their 6 to 7 animals off that morning took no offense and left their animals for surgery as planned. She called the clinic later that morning to advise us that she would be lodging a complaint. Who does she call? The police!! She threatens to ruin me and close down my business. She threatens to make trouble for me. This matter has progressed to a viral internet misunderstanding with embellished and exaggerated commentary on what occurred from Ms. Roberson with no mention of my several attempts to apologize to her. I guess Ms. Roberson's explanation is how she perceives what happened. There was definitely a misunderstanding. My wife says I should have just let her handle it. She is right!! I very much regret what I allowed to happen, but Ms. Roberson chose to take her animals and leave. Since this incident occurred, I have received several phone calls with threats ranging from personal injury to closing down my business. If she makes good on her threats, I will be hearing from the BBB and vet medical board as well. The local Rescue board is considering whether to throw me under the bus. I have received calls about this from several other states. It’s gone national!! Is this all too ridiculous or what? I did not harm her, her son or her animals in any way and I will not have these accusations stand against my character. Ms. Roberson overreacted. I hurt her feelings. That is all it is. I’m sorry!! I have offered my services to Rescue the Animals since its beginning in 1999 and have spayed, neutered, vaccinated, treated and cared for thousands of animals since then at very low cost. I have worked with rescue and the local Animal control agency on many adoption rallies and mass vaccination offerings. I have received many heart felt thank you letters from clients over the years thanking me for my compassion and skill with their animals. I have seen many clients with their animals when every other clinic in town turned them away for lack of money. I do my part and will continue to do so if I am permitted to by the rescue community. This whole thing can come to an end right now with my apology and assurance that I have learned a valuable lesson, even at my ripe old age. Thank you for listening to my side of the story. I hope this ends the misunderstanding. Dr. Mark A. Hitchcock, DVM

This is absolutely ridiculous. We've never taken our pets to anyone BUT Dr. Hitchcock, and he has never once been harmful to our animals or to us. He is always extremely attentive to our animals needs, and he doesn't charge you for services that 1.) He doesn't feel that you need, 2.) You can't afford, or 3. He doesn't feel merits charging for. I don't know how many times we've brought strays in that needed help, and he has always taken them in, given them the care they needed, and found them homes. There's even times when we've left with our own animal's services being free of charge. People need to stop being so easily insulted and thin skinned. I will continue to recommend Mark to anyone and everyone looking for a great veterinarian.
