I have never had a reason to bring a pet to a vet that didn't involve just a check up and vaccines. Well, I rescued a stray who got in a bad cat fight. Brought her to Best Vet because they were the only place that would work me in for an afternoon appointment. They were a bit apprehensive when I explained that the cat was a rescue, but they looked at her injured front paw and her banged up mouth, injected her with some antibiotics and a steroid. The whole thing cost me less than $80. Poor dear took a turn for the worse a couple of weeks later and when we took her back in they only charged us an office visit fee to clean up her abscess, apply another round of antibiotics, and sent us home with ointment. They're really nice and they understand what you need.

I was caring for a friend's cat who started displaying symptoms of extreme discomfort and was obviously ill (yowling, hiding under the bed all day long). Even though Dr. Bob was short-staffed that day, and had a full schedule, he agreed to see "Spot". Oh, should I mention - I had never been to Best Veterinary before. I just called because they were nearby and it was an emergency. Turns out Spot had a life-threatening urinary blockage. Dr. Bob saved Spot's life. I did a follow-on visit to make sure things were good. The clinic staff was great - friendly and professional. two thumbs up. Having been the victim of various Veterinary Clinic billing scams before, I can attest that Dr. Bob's fees were exceptionally reasonable. I suspect anyone who complains about his fees has never been on the other end of an "opportunistic Vet's bill". For example, I once got a 700$ bill for a yearly physical exam (for a pet, not for me!). Anyhow, I am grateful to the staff at this place and recommend them for solid and caring care - at very modest prices.

This is a vet that truly cares about animals and not all about the $$$. I had a gerbil named Woody that I felt didn't have much longer to live due to the tumor growing on his belly. It had popped several times and this last one just seemed to take the best of him. I called around to see about euthanizing him and everywhere I called people either didn't see gerbils or they wanted 75 dollars and one even wanted 100 dollars!!! I called Best Vet and they only wanted 35 dollars but when I brought him in they wanted to see what the doctor thought real quick since I didn't truly want to put him down. The doctor came out, with no appointment set, and said it's a minor surgery and would only be about 50-60 bucks and they do them all the time. I left so happy and was supposed to return around 5 to pick him up. I got a phone call around that time stating my gerbil made it through surgery but died an hour or two after. I know my gerbil was 3.5 years old so I knew there might be a chance he wouldn't make it plus I just could tell he was weak before hand. Best Vet said they were not going to charge me, which we all know most vets would definitely still charge, and they were very compassionate about his passing and even let me know he didn't feel anything when he died due to the anesthesia. They also mailed me a card showing even more care and compassion which really showed how truly amazing they are. I highly recommend this vet as they truly care, plus I take my cat there too! Just look at the doctors pets and the stories associated, that in itself speaks volumes! Thank you Best Vet!! -DK

The entire staff is wonderful. They were great with both of my Boston Terriers. This is our new vet here in Austin. If you are considering trying them, do it! You won't be sorry!

Our dog had surgery, and was released back to us after being injected with an opium cocktail. He could not walk or stand. He urinated on himself several times, could not sleep and was confused. When my husband returned home with our dog, I asked him how he got the dog in the car, "they carried him". We carried him up three flights of stairs to our apartment and for 8 hours our dog was obliterated. Several weeks later, his stitches were removed and in the office, he was playing with another dog and his wound popped open leaving a giant hole in his neck. My husband had to bring him back an hour later after he told him the "hole would close and heal eventually and that's just what dogs do". Today was the last straw. We made a 10:30 appointment, the vet came out to the waiting room and discussed with us the same ear problem our dog has had since his surgery, all of his theories so far have not fixed or healed the problem. He asked what surgery he had performed as if we hadn't just shelled out over $500 dollars and seen him less than two weeks ago! He did not even look in the dog's ear. He said he would prescribe something else and we didn't even need to see him. A vet tech would give his first dose and that would be it. 35 minutes later, after no one said a word to us regarding anything, I asked the receptionist if she could find out what was going on. She came back with the vet who told us that he would solve the problem by "firing us" as if we were lovers and he wanted to get the last word in. This vet is a cheaper way to go, but to make money he is doing as many surgeries as possible and every day. It is a factory for cheap surgery. There is no follow up, no actual tender caring, and the place seems to be run by a space cadet who needs to come back down to reality and realize that the patient is always first. I have never had a vet return a pet to me that could not stand on its own! Please do not use this vet.
