Excellent service from the whole crew at CHofA. The staff was courteous, personable and friendly. The Doc was knowledgeable, understanding and generally concerned for our sick cat. And the best part is our boy is 100% back to normal. Thanks Dr P!
Best veterinarian experience I have ever had. Will never go anywhere else! The staff is compassionate and Dr. Kim is amazing. I had to put down one of my cats. What could have been a really horrible experience was lessened by the caring attitude and understanding from Dr. Kim
I should've written this review a long time ago as I've been taking my cats to CHofA for years for non-routine issues which have included emergencies and end-of-life decisions for 3 elderly cats. They are a little more expensive than other vets so I'd always used my local vet for preventative care and routine treatments. Never again! Dr. Percival ended up saving my cat's leg and my sanity. Tater Tot was rushed to my local vet in Pflugerville on a Friday afternoon because he was in severe distress from a blocked urinary tract from crystals. His bladder was the size of an orange and surgery was needed asap so I left him in what I thought were capable hands. I received a call from that vet later that afternoon telling me surgery was a success and they'd like to keep him over the holiday weekend (Memorial Day) to monitor recovery and make sure everything was OK. When I picked him up on Tuesday morning, I was horrified to see that one of his rear legs was absolutely useless and dragging behind him, completely paralyzed. One of the tech said that when they'd come in to the clinic that morning, they'd found Tater with his catheter tightly wrapped around his rear leg...the catheter that should have been removed on Saturday. Additionally, there was a huge 3rd-degree burn on Tater's stomach with all of his skin burned off, most likely from being left unattended on an unprotected too-hot heading pad after surgery. I was horrified. I believe that no one even checked on my poor cat throughout the entire 3-day weekend. I rushed him to Cat Hospital of Austin asap. Dr. Percival examined the damage and treated the awful burn immediately. She then prescribed a course of physical therapy and massage to try to get sensation restored in Tater's leg. Reviewing his treatment from the local vet, she also discovered he was being dangerously overdosed by the medicines they'd prescribed. Tater began his course of physical therapy and massage as soon as the inflammation in his leg had dissipated. After each visit, I noticed more and more improvement. I've never been a big believer in massage therapy but I saw the improvement with my own eyes. I had to miss one of his appointments due to my own illness and saw for myself a decline in just a few days. So we kept up the therapy for several weeks and now, 6 months later, I'm so happy to say Tater Tot has 100% use of his leg. My cats go to CHoA now for everything. The extra cost is worth the peace of mind.
My husband and I have been taking our cats to Kim Percival and her staff for the past 14+ years and we wouldn't take our cats anywhere else. Even though we live in Lakeway now, we still drive to Kim's office because we TRUST her and her staff completely. They are amazing with cats - there is a reason why they are called "The Cat Hospital of Austin" - they only treat cats and they are extremely kind and gentle with our precious furry babies.
I'm so glad I found the Cat Hospital of Austin! Their staff is knowledgeable and super nice. I completely trust them with my cat, which is such a nice feeling. The vet always explains any treatments necessary and has provided excellent dietary advice for my cat. I have also boarded my cat there a few times and have been happy with the care they provided. They have two options for boarding, one of which has a window, which is perfect for my cat because he is indoor/outdoor. The front desk is very organized. They call ahead to remind you of an appointment, send an automated email to remind you to schedule your next appointment, and the online patient portal gives you access to your paperwork. The office as a whole is clean and calm, perfect for those shy cats. I have never had to wait long for my appointments either! The Cat Hospital also went above and beyond normal service a few months ago when my cat needed to come in for an emergency. Although they were booked for the day since it was Saturday, they told me to still bring my cat in and they would find time for him. They treated him quickly and he healed within a few days. What a relief. Also, I know in Austin many of us like to stay neighborhood centric, and while I love to do so as well, this vet is my exception. This vet is the only exclusive cat hospital I have found in Austin, and it is so worth the trek from South Austin.
