We were in the drive through at Dunkin Donuts this morning for coffee and noticed one of the assistants from the Animal Hospital out walking a dog this morning. I watched this person take the black dog, probably a lab, up and down side of the gully and continue to yank on their lead quite hard. Now, I understand the need for animal discipline as I've had dogs in my life for the better part of 20 years, but the way this young man handled this pet was appalling. In the 5 minutes that I watched him continue to yank hard on the lead and scold the now cowering pet, I almost got out of my car to give him a piece of my mind... that is NOT how you reprimand a dog and you certainly don't try to pull their neck out while doing so. I place this here at the mercy of the Pet Hospital in hopes that you will make sure everyone in staff is properly trained and patient with animals in your care. I'd hope someone would do the same for me if my dog were being treated in such a manner.
Not my first visit, unfortunately. These guys had to put down a dog of ours a few years back, then send me a sweet condolence card - something my regular Vet had never done. Last Sunday, I brought my gravely injured cat to them. They took the cat in the back right away, only after that handed me papers to fill out - hurt kitty didn't have to wait for administrative part to be finished. When a doctor finally saw me, she was sweet and compassionate, said all the right things to me. We decided that my old cat could not be saved, and I chose to be there for the procedure. That doctor returned, gently cradling my kitty, heavily drugged by them to control the pain of the injury. Explained to me what's already been done, let me decide when I was ready... Told my kitty what a good cat he is... I chose to take the body with me, so she took him away, returned him all boxed up. Again, said all the right things. And 2 days later there was another sweet condolence card in my mailbox.
My best friend is dying of bladder cancer and it is one of the worst experiences of my life. After an entire weekend of whimpering and rubbing his tummy on the carpet I was desperate to find him some relief so I took him to Emergency Animal Hospital of Northwest Austin. The doctor gave me information about the treatment of Transitional Cell Carcinoma that my former vet never mentioned and I'm very grateful to her for that. She seemed to have a lot more knowledge and compassion than the other vet and I will certainly follow up on her referral. The jury is still out on the remainder of our visit and when the issue is resolved I will return to Google, remove this review and post my final review.
Dr. Soirez was absolutely wonderful. Diagnosed our little dog quickly and eased our minds. Great outcome, great experience.
My experience with this clinic on the day of the incident was, I believed, one of caring and concern....I soon learned that this was not the true case. On June 15 I went to them with a very sick dog I had had for over 10 years....I had to make the decision to let him go...when i was brought the paper work, i was told i did not have to decide at that moment what would be done with his ashes...for that i was so grateful, as emotionally i could not even think of what to do next. About 10 days later i called asking about the ashes and was told...the procedure was to call the owner in two weeks to confirm how the ashes would be taken care of ...I waited and waited, finally called them yesterday and was told...that was not the procedure and my little fellow had already been disposed of without contacting me with what option I wanted....Very very very disappointed....please know if your animal is in serious condition be prepared for decisions, that will tear your heart from your chest....so so very saddened that a phone call from them was not made to allow me to bring him home....
