I was surprised to 21 see negative comments! I moved to Houston from Beaumont over a year ago and am still searching for a vet that comes close. I used to travel frequently before I moved and boarded my cat often. Dr. Custer would come in early to give her time and attention and the staff doted on her. They called me when any issues came up and always before any kind of procedure if I wasn't there. That was my cat's second home and she was very well treated. More than once I've considered taking Patate (my cat) back to Beaumont for treatment because I've yet to find a vet here that I trust the way I trust Dr. Custer and his staff.

While the people are kind and the place is nice, I will not be returning with my Yorkie. I called them to have her spayed and asked about the procedure and the price. They gave me a flat price, and I scheduled her procedure. I brought her in the day of at 6:45 a.m., and they began running through a 2-page list of questions, asking if I wanted my dog sterilized (yes), if I wanted her to have pain medication (yes), if I wanted her vitals to be checked (yes). After going through page after page and becoming more and more upset, I told them I wanted my dog safe, healthy, and comfortable. They then quoted me a price a couple hundred dollars more than I was quoted over the phone. At the time, I was not anticipating the cost but did not want to back out, so I ended up with an exorbitant bill. Later, when coworkers asked how she was doing (I brought my dog with me to work for about an hour before going home), I told them about my experience. Everyone was shocked and appalled at my treatment and the price. I then switched vets and am very pleased with Dr. Wilson on Calder. He is reasonable and very caring to my dog. Again, I will say Dowlen Road is full of nice people and a nice atmosphere, but I did not appreciate being treated in that manner.
