This staff is beyond amazing. They were so kind and compassionate toward our situation with our very sick dog and they helped me and my family through a very hard decision to put him to sleep. They explain everything they do very well and I was relieved to have my dog in such good care. Thank you for all you guys do!
I brought my 2 1/2 year old dog there yesterday with the inability to hold any water down and would not eat. After a brief exam I was given the good news that our dog just had an upset tummy. Other than a stool sample no other tests were suggested or ordered. Today our dog is at another vet having life saving surgery due to an intestinal blockage. I wish that more tests were done and a more thorough investigation of the issue so our dog would not have had to deal with the pain for the last 24 hours. If I had listened to the "Come back on Wednesday if not better", my dog may have died. When looking up intestinal obstruction symptoms in dogs, I found an identical listing as what I provided to the vet yesterday. While they were nice and fit us in, their mistake and lack of detailed testing might prove to cause my dog her life. It should be noted we have seen Dr. Denton in the past and found him to be caring and thorough. The last two experiences, each with two other vets however were not as positive.
No one at Deer Creek Animal Hospital has any compassion or care for animals, as far as I've seen from going to them for over a year now. Not to mention they are rude and always seem to be too busy to pay attention to you and your animal while you are talking to them. I've never experienced an entire clinic so unattached and careless. Their office is half a mile from my house so I have used them hoping they will finally get to know my animals and start treating them better, but it's obviously not going to happen. I'm not sure which vet I will be using next, but no amount of convenience of distance is worth putting my pets and our family through dealing with the staff at Deer Creek. Also, if you are looking to board your pets, you should know that I boarded my dog here for 2 days and when I picked her up she had blood on her elbow, scratches that were bleeding on her face and nose, and had diarrhea for 6 days afterwards. I left a blanket, toys, and her regular food with the amounts she gets fed twice a day, and a snack for each day. When I picked her up, two receptionists said my dog was great, no issues, calm, sweet, and was happy each time she was checked on and had no issues going to the bathroom or irregularities. When I went back and asked about the cuts/wounds and her liquid stool, a girl that wasn't there before and apparently didn't tend to my dog during her stay, said she showed signs of aggression and must have hurt herself. I never received any details or reasons to why she had multiple bleeding wounds or why she was very sick. And definitely never got an apology or any sort of apathy or signs of caring from anyone that works there. Just a fair warning. 1/20/14 In response to "the response from the owner," I wasn't even going to mention all of the other issues we've had at Deer Creek. That just seemed most useful to other people. When I first took my dog to Deer Creek, it seemed pretty nice and I was very hopeful. The owner/vet came and saw my dog and seemed knowledgeable and personable, really seemed to care about animals. Which he probably does. My dog was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which is pretty common in dogs. He wanted us to do a trial run for a few weeks with a medicine at a certain dosage, and later we could tailor it if necessary after the next checkup. After he left and we went to pickup our small prescription, it turns out they only sold them in 250 pill bottles of double the dose my dog needed, so we would break the pills in half and pay $80 for the entire bottle. Even though we were only going to need a few weeks worth, and they would not sell us a smaller amount no matter what. So we went ahead and bought the huge bottle. Luckily, my dog's hormone levels tested moderately normal so we were able to keep her on the dosage. When it came time to refill the prescription, I found the exact same thing online at a pet pharmacy for $35. We called Deer Creek and they said they would write the script, so I figured it wasn't an issue, even though the receptionist was noticeably annoyed. I ordered it online two weeks before we were out. The place we ordered from called me right as we were expecting the pills to arrive and said our vet wouldn't give them the script and we had to go up there and get it. I called the vet, let them know we were on our last day of pills and they still wouldn't fax it. I finally went up to Deer Creek on my lunch break, got the script, and asked for a weeks worth of medicine so my dog didn't have to go without. Not only would they not give it to me as a courtesy, which I didn't expect, but they wouldn't let me purchase anything less than the 250 pill bottle for $80. While it was a large inconvenience, and careless of the animal hospital to put making a huge profit above the health of animals, that's not the main reason we feel Deer Creek doesn't take good care of animals and the staff doesn't care about them.
My wife and I have moved six times in the past eleven years with two dogs and a bird. We have lived in multiple cities in three different states. We have visited countless vet clinics and not one could compare to Deer Creek Animal Hospital. Deer Creek Animal Hospital loves and respects your pets as much as you do. The staff was always more than accommodating and helpful. Their prices were always reasonable and fair. Thank you Deer Creek for being the very best.
This is the nicest animal hospital I've ever been to! EVERYONE is sweet, attentive, and doesn't try to over charge their customers...I recommend this office to everyone. :)
