DO NOT TAKE YOUR BELOVED PET TO THIS BANSFIELD LOCATION!!! We took our German Shepherd last week for services that required tests to be performed. We were told we would find out the results on Wednesday of this week, at the very latest. Bansfield failed to call. We have called on Friday and Saturday and talked to the receptionist who told us someone would call by the end of each business day. No one ever called us back and we still do not know what is going on with our pet. We will be locating another vet on Monday to ensure that our dog will be taken care of professionally.
Terrible business practice. I paid over $400 for a wellness plan that was recommended to me. I was told I needed to either pay all of my services up front after a recent vet visit. I explained to the girl that I already paid for my insurance up front so surely they could work out a 2-3 payment plan with me on this visit. No luck. When I asked about upgrading her wellness plan to include more services I needed, I was informed that even though I still had a remaining 9 months on the current puppy plan that I would have to pay a $200 upgrade fee ON TOP of paying for the Special Care plan. Disappointed in the business integrity, after spending so much already they expect more on top. I wasn't helped. I wasn't offered any other alternative but to pay it all up front or basically they would let me pick up my dog with out any services rendered. For an establishment that is in the business of helping animals, they really have done nothing for the quality of care for my dog. Will not be recommending Banfield to anyone, anytime.
I was in this area shopping so I figured I would go to this Banfield location to get my dogs flea pills. I called ahead to make sure I didn't need to go to the one I normally go to by my house and they said it was fine, that they could look me up in the system and to stop on by. From the moment I got there it was nothing but a whole lot of shenanigans without any service whatsoever. They started with, "I'm sorry but our computers have been freezing all day," and 5-10 minutes later when they were back up again they said "we can't find you in the system, are you sure that's the name it's under?" "What's your maiden name?" "Okay lets check under different phone numbers." "What did you say your dogs name was again?" It was really frustrating to repeat myself over and over and over again. But here's the kicker, when they finally did find me in the system (by the name I'd given them a hundred times already) they said, "Well it looks like you don't have a script for that so we have to follow the rules and have to see your dog before giving it to you" which is COMPLETE BULL considering I've had the script for years and already purchased mass amounts of that med from the location closest to my house. I even pulled up my bank app and showed them where the Wellness Plan was being drafted from my bank account when they had the audacity to also say that none of my dogs were listed to have the wellness plan. So in the end I told them it was a mistake coming here anyway and went to my normal location. Wouldn't you know I walked into my neighborhood Banfield and 5 minutes later walked out with my script for all 3 dogs and an apology for the crap treatment I received at Lake Worth? I know not to go there again....EVER.
I noticed my seven month old dog was developing an problem with his left eye, so I took him to the Banfield in Lake Worth, TX because our vet was closed. At the Lake Worth Banfield they did an eye exam with a dye to exam more carefully (not in front of me). I was told that he didn't have a scratch in his eye and that was important because it would determine what kind of medicine he was prescribed. They also immediately put an E-collar on him. two days later it didn't look any better and he cried (not fighting, this sounded like he was in pain) each time we put his medicine in. So we took him to our normal vet to have him looked at because it didn't seem any better and we were afraid he was in pain. Our normal vet also did the dye test and found that there actually was significant scratch in his eye that actually looked like it was there for at least a few days. They did the test in front of us and showed us the scratch. That leads me to believe that their vets have no idea what they are doing because how could they miss such a big scratch? He had the E-collar on the whole time, so it wasn't a new scratch. What makes it even worse is that their services were twice what I paid for my normal vet visit (even the collar was 2x what my vet would have charged me). I will certainly never take my pets there again and I will never recommend anyone I know to use their services. I should demand a refund for the unsatisfactory and misdiagnosis of my pet, which resulted in him being prescribed the wrong medication that delayed his healing.
I have decided to discontinue going to Banfield at Petsmart in Lake Worth, Tx. My cat is 19 yrs old with hyperthyroidism and high blood pressure. We took him in for his annual blood work to make sure his medication was still working. Tech took him back to draw blood while the dr talked to me about other stuff. The usual haulers were heard from the back as they attempted to draw blood. The Dr left to go take the urine sample. I sat in the examine room for 30 min listening to them wrestling with my elderly car to draw blood. My cat is 5 lbs. It was clearly torture. Finally the dr came in and said they were unable to draw blood and I would have to bring him back next week to try again. She said the dr would have to do the blood draw because my 5 lb cat was too much for the techs. I have never had a blood draw take more than 5 min. I don't doubt that my cat resisted their attempts. But experienced techs and drs should know how to work with cats. I will not be returning for the second blood draw attempt. I will be visiting a privately owned vet office instead that has a solid reputation and qualified techs. Do your pet a big favor and choose a different establishment.
