I started bringing two of my dogs to Hill Country Animal Hospital because they sometimes go to the Palms for play care. Herman is pretty scared of everything new and we have had a hard time particularly at the vet. Since he LOVES play care, I thought he would associate the vet with the Palms. Not only was he happy to go there, once we got inside everyone was so kind and understanding. Dr Peterson was so gentle with him and even told me that he wanted to make sure his first visit was a positive one. The vets are great and they are very cognoscente of animal behavior. I now bring all three of my dogs and my cat there. Dr Krik is wonderful. She takes her time, is very knowledgeable and is patient when I ask her questions. When I picked my pit bull up from having some tests run, everyone came out to say goodbye to him because they loved him so much. I really can't say enough about this practice. My pets are all rescues and it is so important to me to give them a great life. Hill Country helps me do that and I'm very grateful
I took my momma cat, Oreo, to get her post natal check up here about a week ago, I was so impressed by the level of care and knowledge from the vet. Everyone was so sweet and treated Oreo and her kittens so well. Yes, it is a little expensive but, you get what you pay for and it is worth it! The vet was so awesome and sweet and she answered all of my questions with patience. Also, any time I call, they are more than happy to help and answer any questions that I have. This is now our permanent family vet.
Expect to pay A LOT to go to this clinic, but you will receive excellent service from very competent veterinarians. ALL vet clinics will offer you expensive additional tests and services. Why? Because many customers are unaware they exist or like pampering their pet. Just say NO and the offers will end. Screening tests are tests for low-probability (but severe consequence) illness. They are designed to catch all pets with the illness, but often pull in "false-positive" pets. That is what the follow up test is for: to weed out the false-positives. Knowing which test is superfluous versus a follow-up is challenging to the non-medical pet owner. To their credit, these vets will honestly let you know which one is which. Thus my vote below "Excellent": Excellent value but expense reduces the ratio (value / $).
The staff was nice enough (w/ the exception of one pretty aloof vet tech), but this business must think they are sh*t-hot according to their prices. They need to relocate to the Dominion or something - I just personally think a nearly $200 dollar bill for an "exam" that took 30 seconds, heartworm test and a 6 month supply of heartgaurd is ridiculous. Granted, I probably should go through alternative sources for prevention medicine; but, a fair warning, if you've got cash just flying out of your pockets and don't mind handing over a wad of cash for mediocre service, this is the place for you.
