I was going to El Centro for 3 years since my husband was stationed here. Our first dog was neutered here without any problems. However throughout the years we haven't seen the same vet twice or even same lab tech twice. The turnover rate is unbelievable. The current staff have been very rude to me and my dogs and they are very quick to muzzle my lab mix. I recently got a new puppy and they want over 700 to properly spay her ! The base price of spaying only includes the actual surgery and pain meds are only an option that you over pay for ! The old staff was sweet and remembered my dogs name... the new staff seems like they don't even like animals.
I have been using El Centro for about 10 years now. We love Dr. Davis. She has always made sure our beloved pets receive the best medical attention available and has referred us to specialists when there is something they need that she cannot provide. She takes the time during the appointment to make sure all our questions are answered and that we understand the diagnosis and whatever treatment is required. We have a 15 year old diabetic cat that requires daily insulin shots. When she was first diagnosed we had a difficult time regulating her blood glucose and had to adjust the amount of insulin on a daily basis. Dr Davis would let us text her with the glucose readings and then let us know by phone how much to adjust her insulin without us having to upset our cat by bringing her in on a daily basis. It took several weeks but we were able to regulate it and she has been doing great with the same dosage for almost two years now. I cannot express enough how thankful I am to have the El Centro Pet Med Center team available to me and my beloved animals.
I love El Centro. I was going to the vet on Fort Hood because I didn't think there were any other choices out there that were any better. I didn't care for them much because they never gave me options for treatment but always told me what they were going to do, and whatever it was was always ridiculously priced. But one day, my female Basset started passing blood clots, and it scared me. So I called the vet on post. They told me that they were too busy to see her and wouldn't be able to fit her in for almost 2 weeks but that it was necessary for her to be seen immediately. I found out that El Centro would allow us to walk in, so I called. They told us to come right in. $47 and only about half an hour later, she was treated and back to her old self. 6 months later, we are still going to El Centro for everything. Dr. Erwin is honestly the kindest man, and he explains everything. He takes his time and talks to my dogs and pets them. Never got that on post. I've never had to pay over $50 for anything or wait over 20 minutes.
Saved my dog but had some huge problems with the billing. I was gouged for money when we were in a vulnerable position. During care they promised they would be flexible and even accept monthly payments. I received 1 bill stating that we would accrue monthly interest until balance was paid (which is ok). Instead my debt was immediately sent to a collection agency that charged 50 yes 50% interest! In my case the 50% was 800$ so much for working with me.
I have not actually visited this facility before but did however call to inquire on some items. I was not the least bit satisfied with my experience over the phone! The lady that answered (and boy am I kicking myself for not getting her name) seemed rushed at the time the call was picked up and immediately asked to put me on hold, which was fine...I know how it is to be busy and phones ringing like crazy! When she came back on the line, she seemed flustered (maybe at the call before mine...who knows?) and irritated. I asked several questions and to my surprise, she was very short with her replies, which to me is not how you get someone in the door to a business!! I've always been told that you can tell if someone on the phone has a smile on by the way they talk...and this lady did not have a smile on and as far as I can tell, she does not enjoy her job. With this said, El Centro just lost a customer and I didn't even walk through their door...it's amazing how customer service can turn people away just that quick!!!
