Dr. Ashburn is a good vet. If you can manage to accept their unprofessional office staff he is a good pick for dogs or cats. He is very selective about who he will offer large animal services to, and trust me he still does allow horses but only to people he likes. If you are not a lufkin native, forget it. Your horse doesnt deserve treatment. Similar scenario for Dr Penn. He sees horses, but only if you have made it in before the deadline... 2 years ago. I have 11 performance horses here in Lufkin, I pay my bills, I never say no to a suggested procedure by a veterinary professional, but my biggest sin is I am new to Lufkin. How atrocious to behave in this "membership" only manner when an animals life is at stake. Ethically this practice has a lot to work on.

Everyone here is compassionate and friendly. I appreciate everything they do for my cats.
