My dog was in a terrible situation requiring frequent visits and lots of care. Dr Meier and his staff really helped me out, working around my schedule and budget. I was scared that I may have needed to give up my dog, but they made it possible for me to keep her and make her well. Dr. Meier & his staff were very professional and helpful. Thanks!!!

I took our kitten here for her first checkup. The vet seemed to be thorough and good at his job. Even though the prices were competitive and the vet knew what he was doing, I don't think this place is the right fit for me and my kitten. First, the office staff is chatty and childish. They were giggling a lot and seemed to take forever to schedule our next appointment and answer questions. I asked about the payment plan and never received a response. The front office staff reminded me of high school students. Second, there was a cat and dog running around the front office. While being a vet must have its perks, I do not think it is professional to bring your pets to work with you and expose them to sick animals. Third, the office was a mess and outdated. I used to volunteer at the Humane Society and even their records are digital and the office and kennels don't smell terrible. This vet's office stunk and there were paper records falling off the shelves! There was hair everywhere and the floors and walls were filthy. The exam room was torn apart and did not have any supplies. The doors used were sliding wood doors and looked very cheap and didn't block sounds well. I just can't get over the smell. It gagged me at some points. Also, the front desk was a mess. Paperwork everywhere, outdated flyers, outdated promotions, and outdated fundraisers were scattered on the counter. It also was filthy. It is not that hard to take a Clorox wipe to a counter. Lastly, the vet tech that assisted him did not introduce herself and was meek and quiet. She just held my kitten down and disappeared after the shot was given. I know that animals don't talk, but humans do! Say hello, let us know who is touching our kitten, and what is going to happen to her! I think if the vet hired professionals to handle his front office, friendlier vet techs, and a cleaning crew to come in weekly, I would return.

We've used Leon Valley Vet for 30 plus years for several generations of pets. We've always received excellent, compassionate care for everything from routine visits to complicated diagnostics to final arrangements. I appreciate Dr. Meier's consideration for the pocketbook, allowing us to choose the best medical treatment at the price we can afford - rather than jumping into possibly unnecessary, expensive testing and treatment before exploring other options. He knows when to refer to a specialist and has sent us to excellent specialists for complicated situations. Love the office staff and clinical staff!

Dr Meier and his staff at Leon Valley Vet Hospital are... well - there isnt a word to describe them. Family comes to mind. Trust as well. If they would start seeing human patients, I'd be first in line. I have had several dogs of my own as well as foster dogs over the last few years and there is no one i would trust more than Dr Meier and his team. The level of care and service is ALWAYS impeccable. The prices are fair, and they are upfront and willing to work with you when necessary. I was out of town when my dog suffered a traumatic eye injury. The people watching my dog brought him to the emergency vet and the vet on duty there that night was heartless and compassion less when telling me from hundreds of miles away over the phone that unless i could pay upfront in full for a $1600 surgery that my dog would die. they also refused to provide after care until i could fly home later that week. I took the chance i had to and the next morning he was brought to Dr Meier (alive btw) Dr Meier knew his condition was bad, but explained that once on meds he would be stable enough to wait for surgery the following day. Dr Meier called me the next morning before and after surgery and twice a day with updates the days following until i made it back to TX. When i arrived to pick up my dog, he wanted to stay at the vet clinic. I dont believe there is a better testimony that that. They are ALWAYS kind and gentle and caring. They always make room for me and my pets even when something comes up and we dont have an appointment. If i moved to the other side of town i would drive the 45 mins to see Dr. Meier. They love my pets, and we love them.

I have been here twice so far and had great service both times. The first time was because my little dog had a scratch on his eye, the vet and staff were very nice and the prices were reasonable. I brought my collie in after he had cancer for a while and the vet that had been treating him was closed. We had to have him put to sleep, it was a little strange to go there for this since they didn't know the history behind his illness but they were all so sweet. They went out of their way to help us and even sent me a 'sorry for your loss' card in the mail afterwards. It was the most thoughtful thing, it brought tears to my eyes and because of the way they handled both of my visits (esp putting to sleep my sweet boy) they are my vet clinic now. UPDATE-I even called there to see if they could board my bearded dragon, and while they couldn't they knew someone that could and got my info to pass along. They are great!
