We love this place. We take our pets for all their illness/sickness and routine shots. They are sweet to our animals and have always solved all of our pet problems. They talked with us for a while about our baby kitten when he was really sick. Now our kitten goes there for everything. I think they are great. The only thing is that we got one dog fixed here, (all the others went to Austin because it is much cheaper) but the dog that got fixed here did have some problems healing, may have just been the dog and her size and she was really active but when we called with concern they saw her and talked with us on the phone about what we can do. She ended up being fine. I still think this is a great vet.
I gave this clinic so many chances, I feel embarrassed. I wish I had never taken my animals there. My dog came back from his last visit (a few days ago) picking up one of his back feet again and when he left my house, he had been using both legs again after his two ACL replacement surgeries. They also put down a kitten of mine without making a reasonable attempt to contact me. Dr. Gowens was apologetic in tone when she called me later that night, but I never received an actual apology for her actions. There are many other reasons why I will not go back, but the incompetence of the veterinarians is the main one.
The people were very informative and friendly. They took excellent care of my dog during and after he got neutered. I would highly recommend them.
I've been meaning to review Kings Highway Animal Clinic for a while. After going to several vets in town and having bad experiences with several, I read excellent reviews on KH and took my two dogs there. They try hard to be affordable and will work out payment plans for larger expenses. I have received only excellent service from people who truly seem to care about animals. I have two key examples of this service. Firstly, my dog ate something and became sick at about 10pm. Now we had spent 1,000 in New Braunfels at an after-hours clinic before just to have it "pass" without diagnosis. I wish I could remember the vet's name right now, but when I called her she immediately dropped what she was doing (eating dinner) and met me at the clinic to look at our dog. I think the total charge was 40.00 - amazing. Secondly, when my husband and I took jobs in South Korea, she helped us with all of the extensive paperwork, going so far as to drive a document up to Austin herself to make sure it got there on time. That, to me, is going far above and beyond. We are back in San Marcos now and will absolutely continue to go to KH.
Love this place. I have taken my pets here and will continue to do so. This place really cares and does excellent work. Also the pricing is very fair and in many cases cheaper than anyone else in town (at least for what we've had done).
