Over the past 25 years i have used Doc Jager and Doc Allen and now i have used Doc Jager only since Doc Allen passed away. Both of these Vets are old school and both was always blunt and told it how it is and at times i know that something will come up that cant be explained as to whats wrong but general knowledge that these two always had is what made me use both of them.Doc Jager is very blunt and i like it because you can be blunt back with him and get the answers you need to decide what needs to be done on your part. Some animals will die because they can not be saved and falls into Gods hands and the ones that can be you have a great chance with Doc Jager.. Remember he has many many years of experience.
Great place! Dr. Jager is very experienced and we have always been pleased with the way he takes care of our sick dogs. Also saves you money to go here! Win win.
Not only do my wife and I take our dogs to Jager but so do her parents (who are breeders and trainers of hunting dogs) and a family friend (who does the same as her parents). Dr. Jager is very straight forward and doesn't beat around the bush when it comes to your pet's health. Our chi was hit by a car about a year or so ago and thanks to Dr. Jagers care and patience she has fully recovered with nothing but a small scar on her forhead to show her trauma. We are eternally greatful to Dr. Jager and recommend him to everyone we know!
Don't go to Dr. Jager!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here's what happened (sorry its so long): I had gone to Dr. Jager a couple of times for my puppy to get her regular shots and did not really have any problems. I was actually impressed those times at how fast the service was and how cheap the prices were. My puppy was about 8 months old and had all of her shots from Dr. Jager (including Parvo shots). One day my puppy got a hold of some t-bones from steak left over and ate them. The next day she had the runs and when she would try to go she couldn't. She also wouldn't eat anything. So, I took her to Dr. Jager and told him about the t-bone and all the symptoms. He walked in the room with the dog, jammed a plastic stick up her behind, looked at her face, and in less than 2 minutes, said she had parvo. He said it would cost $400 per night to keep her with the other parvo dogs (in case some people don't know, parvo kills dogs and is highly contagious; serious problem in Waco) so he can try to help her. Well, I started asking questions like: I got all her shots from here, how could she have parvo? Are there any other possibilities for these symptoms? Why do you have to keep her overnight to assess her? I wasn't talking to fast, being pushy, or anything like that, just a concerned owner (not to mention the $$ I couldn't afford). He then said that I was asking too many questions and he couldn't handle me. He didn't just ask us to leave, he kicked us out. So, we left, thinking "crap", now I have to go to another vet and fork out $$ just so my pup can die in a week from parvo. We went across the street to the animal hospital (right next to the animal shelter) and made an appointment. They checked her out and said that it was highly unlikely that she had parvo (especially because she had all of her shots and she is a very large breed dog). They gave her a pill prescription and a liquid dropper for antibiotics and a form of stool softener and my pup was better in less than 3 days (for about $120 total). It has now been over 3 months since this incident and my dog is still healthy and playful. I can't imagine losing my dog and having to stop going to Baylor to try to pay for vet bills. I'm sure I am not the only person who has had bad experiences because I know of at least one other person with a complaint. I don't think that Dr. Jager should be allowed to have the title "Dr." because that implies that he is ethical, professional, and competent; which he is not!
I have known Dr Jagar for many years and he has more pure knowledge about animals then anyone else I know. I send people to him because he is fair priced and very experienced.
