Ever since we kenneled our dog a month ago we have had the owner calling harassing us because he said we were not charged properly and he wanted our credit card number because they couldn't find it on file so he could charge us again. I called him back to let him know that our credit card statement showed we had been charged. He didn't call back for a couple weeks and then when he final got around to calling back it was to tell to me to prove it because he shows we didn't pay it. I again found the bill called him back and gave him the date and exact amount charged. He then told me if I didn't want to be charged again I had to prove I had paid him by showing him my credit card statement. When I refused to drive out and show him my personal statement he told me that he would take me to small claims court. The issue is with them loosing the batch receipt when it was charged and not wanting to hassle with going to their bank for verification of payment. I hardly think my family should be harassed and put out because the owner, Mike, doesn't want to be hassled by or doesn't know how to run his business properly. In the end we called our credit card company and they called him to let him know our bank had in fact paid him and that it was his banks error. All of this could have been avoided if instead of accusing me he had just admitted their error and asked for help verifying payment.
REGAR - Your little white cockapoo mix escaped while you were on vacation! My husband and I were on the bike path the Saturday afternoon of August 4th. We stopped to rest on the steps in the kennel parking lot. Soon a little white doggie came around the corner with no leash and no human supervision. It didn't take long to realize he/she was an escapee. Regar was the name on the collar. We took the dog inside; they were embarrassed and said "thanks," but I seriously doubted they would mention it to the owners. We have never used this kennel, so have no opinion beyond this incident, but we thought everyone might like to know!
We left our cat there for two weeks.... Before dropping our cat off we took her to pender veterinary in fairfax.. she received a full checkup and was very healthy, up-to-date etc. We paid for a kennel with a window.. and play time every other day. One day my wife received a phone call that our cat hadnt eaten in two days. Later we were told our cat was going into shock and was being looked at by the vet. The vet said they had no idea what was wrong... We were told we had to collect our cat. We took our cat to pender where they administered more fluids. It was recommended that our cat be put to sleep as it was unlikely that it would start eating again. We took the cat home and it refused to eat. The next day it was put down. The vet who helped us is a family friend and said that it was unlikely the cat had eaten in many days. How could they go so long without realizing something was wrong? We are horribly upset that our loved pet went through this and on top of it all we were charged over $400 for this "service" can I say it was from being left there? no.. but 100% sure she was healthy when she arrived.. soo .. make your own determination. When we picked her up she was very very very not well..
We always take our dog here, which is an average of once a year. Once she did come home with a cough, but it cleared right up. She is always clean and happy to see us after a week there. The only disagreement I have had is over flu shots when they were requiring those, but now you can sign a waiver.
We used Old Mills Kennel for the first time and were very pleased with the overall experience. We were greeted warmly both at pick up and drop off. We were treated honestly. It turns out that our cat was very unhappy and very unwilling to be handled by the staff. We had ordered play time, nail trimming, and a bath, as well as a window cage. Because of the cat's reticence, they could not do all of the extras and thus did not charge me. Really, they could have charged for the play time and I never would have known otherwise. I truly appreciate their honesty. Jackie was super sweet and very helpful. She even trimmed the cat's nails once I was there to hold her, which I also greatly appreciate. If they will have us back we will definitely use the service again. I think the only thing that we didn't really like was that the "play rooms" didn't seem to have anything to play with. There were no toys or perches or other distractions. I understand that cleaning those areas is time-consuming, but it did leave a sad feeling.
