I have been using this vet for my Bulldog Clementine's health care needs since we moved here from Colorado in the fall of 2010. These vets are absolutely fantastic! I have seen 3 of the vets on staff, and my dog absolutely loves Dr. Lily. We moved across the bridge into Gig Harbor in 2012 and I could not find a vet close by that even compared to the service and professionalism offered by Chambers Creek, so I pay the bridge toll and drive into Lakewood whenever Clemmie needs a vet visit, or bath. These vets are so wonderful, I've even referred a couple of friends who have also been extremely satisfied with their experience.
Until today, I had been using this facility for over 10 years with various pets and have almost decided to go elsewhere because when I first called, I was told it was going to cost me $378 to take my 3 dogs in for "what was due." The reminder card stated only: Well Pet Exam and Lepto Vaccination. I called another vet and got a quote for $145.50 to treat all 3 dogs. After reviewing my bill from last year's visit to Chambers which was $340 and change, I noticed it included fecal exams for all 3 dogs. Sure enough, when I called them back, even though my notice was about the Lepto and exams only, the quote on the phone included both a fecal exam and a bordetella vaccine, but the person I spoke with twice on the phone earlier did not clarify that. I called just back and asked. So in all fairness, the cost of the Lepto/Well-Pet exam is only $228.30. Still, that is over $80 difference between the 2 hospitals for the same service. There is no doubt that Chambers has top notch vets. But you also must be prepared to pay top dollar for their services and if you can't, they give you no payment options other than to take your business elsewhere. Being a long time client doesn't make any difference to them. So right now, for what it is worth, the jury is out. I am pondering if the $80 difference between the 2 facilities is worth it.
My husband and I have been bringing our cats here for about 18 years now. They have always been caring and professional. Scheduling appointments is easy too. We have had bad vet experiences at other places in the past but not here. We trust them at CC. There are cheaper vet services elsewhere but it is worth it to go to CC because our cats get the care we want them to have.
I really can't say enough good things about this clinic. In fact, I wish I could get health care as good as my puppy! When my new puppy came down with something, I looked at the clinics close by and picked this one based on reviews. I am very glad I did. The staff is incredibly helpful throughout the process. My dog was treated with tenderness and the staff was very considerate of a pet owner with a sick puppy. The treatment plans were straight forward, logical, and if there was ever any risk to be taken, advice always tended toward what was best for my puppy. I was shocked by only one thing; the doctor took the time to give treatment, diagnosis, and updates in person. It took me a bit to realize that it was happening, because the staff are all proficient and knowledgeable in their own right. To see the doctor jumping from patient to patient and taking the time to personally inform all the owners was not something I expected. All around a tremendously positive experience and I am glad I found such capable people for my puppy.
I have taken our cats & dogs to this vet clinic/hospital for years now. I have seen them increase their prices and increase the list of what should be done with your pet for his/her care. When you question the written estimate they give you, or tell them you cannot pay the $1,000, they will take the paper in the back again and again coming out with what you can pay. Or...they will tell you to fill out the paperwork for Care Credit so they can do more work ups. You have to be assertive and say you cannot pay that amount for blood work, for example, and believe me, they will then tell you 1/2 of it isn't really necessary. The Dr's are very good and I wonder if it's the vet owner's idea to do this kind of money thing, and not all the other vets ideas. A few of the female techs are rude and curt, but the rest are nice and friendly. I feel my pets are in competent hands, but the constant money issue is very hard to accept. I have now taken my pets to Vets For Less in Federal Way for the same care only it's 1/3 the cost (neutering, shots, basics). Bottom line...they will start at the highest amount, most labs and work ups, then will go down to what is really necessary once you question it.
