I have used Mid-Columbia in the past and they were great! I rushed my min pin in at 3:30 AM about 4 months ago and they asked me my budget, took great care of her, were under my budget, and explained how to administer meds and comfort her effectively. My husband called them last night about my min pin and asked if due to her symptoms we should bring her in and he said the lady who answered the phone was very short and said if we were worried to bring her in. I called back and my experience was awful. I have never had a clinic have such disregard for an owner's concerns and she repeatedly told me to bring her in if I was 'concerned'. I called to ask for a professional's opinion, not to be spoken to like I was over-reacting and crazy. Needless to say, I decided to drive much further to take her to a vet clinic that does take owner's feelings and emotions to heart. I'm not sure if I will use them again but I will tell you that if I do decide to try them again, because they are right next door, I will call to make sure their front office staff is helpful and courteous to their customers first. -Madison
The staff and doctors (Dr. B and Dr. Erickson) were wonderful in treating us and our beloved pet with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, our dog was too sick and had to be let go, but we have only the highest praise for Mid-Columbia.
We had an emergency on a Sunday night with a broken canine tooth. Surgery was quick and went smooth, and they kept us informed through the night. He healed very quickly, and is happier and healthier than ever. I would use these guys as our regular vet if they weren't and emergency only service. Thank you again!
My dog was acting funny one night, and then I saw blood running down her leg. I checked her, and she had a massive, deep cut running clear across her belly. I think she cut herself passing through a barbed wire fence. I rushed her crying to Mid Columbia Pet Emergency Services. They did a brief examination, told me they needed a payment up front before they could perform x-rays. I was desperate, paid $1700. An hour later they told me they needed more money. I paid another $700. I was triple billed for a fentanyl pain patch, and that's basically all they did for her. You have to pick up your animal first thing in the morning as they don't keep animals there during the day. So I picked her up and took her to Double Arrow Veterinary clinic on Argent in Pasco. They took more x-rays, ditched the fentanyl patch, told me how lucky I was that her cut was so deep (3 inches deep in places) but had missed all major veins, arteries and organs. They operated (plain stitches wouldn't be enough as deep as it was) and my total bill for them was under $600. Mid Columbia Pet Emergency Services is a rip-off. They play off your emotions, give your animals heavy duty pain meds and charge you an arm and a leg for it. If you take your animal to a real vet, they just toss those pain meds. If your dog is on it's death bed, it might be worth it. But if you think your pet can wait even just a few hours until a real vet opens - WAIT.
Yes, emergency vets are expensive. But, without the thoughtful care my dog received he would have died last night. Both vets on duty during the two days he was at the clinic were knowledgeable, caring, and worked diligently to save him.
