Alpine Animal hospital is great! The staff is always helpful and nice. They have helped me take great care of my cat. To top it off when I go there to socialize my cat (and to make him not afraid of the vets) they spoil him with treats :)
Alpine Animal Hospital has been taking care of our furry babies for years and we couldn't recommend them more highly. They're incredibly knowledgeable about the problems that occur with animals and they're compassionate--both with the pets and with the humans who love them. There's a trust there--they give us unfailingly good information and insights and do it as quickly as possible. It's so reassuring. The office staff are also very helpful and friendly and are so sweet to our pets. Alpine feels like a family or a community. They have our greatest trust and highest recommendation.
I've been with Alpine 18 years now for preventive care, boarding and surgeries. I wouldn't go anywhere else, because: 1. Great bedside manner for humans as well as pets. They are patient and understanding and will take the time you need to understand your options, whether over the phone, at the desk, in the examining room and in the kennel. I never walk in to pick up a dog after a drop-off visit without most of them having some story for me. Everyone in the practice is involved with the the animals. 2. An extraordinary level of expertise. The vets range in age and consult with each other on their cases, which means that for any medical issue you get all the recent theories and practices from the docs with recent DVMs as well as seasoned experience from those in private practice for a long time. 3. A good working relationship with the WSU School of Veterinary Medicine for easy access to state-of-the-art diagnostic work and easy referral for complex surgeries. 4. First-class boarding for dogs and luxury suites for cats. Dogs benefit from a newly remodeled and expanded kennel and from a large, dedicated exercise area where they get to play at length several times a day. 5. Animals get love from all the staff, all the time. One last word: there are many options for boarding dogs on the Palouse, but I still choose Alpine. Alpine's facility is secure, the dogs get ample exercise, and if they get sick, they are right where they need to be. Enthusiastic thumbs up from a grateful long-time client.
I have taken my puppy to them several times. The first time he had an adverse, and terrible reaction to one of the shots. Not only did I have to rush him back, they charged me an atrocious amount to fix something they caused!! Every time I have taken him in there they charge me for services that are unnecessary! Like we knew he had mites so we took him in and they took another skin scrape ($35) said try this wait and come back. Well it didn't work, and we had to pay for ANOTHER visit and ANOTHER skin scrape when we came back even though we already knew it was mites! I understand it costs money to take care of animals but they continue to not completely serve us so it requires us to come back and pay the $50 visit charge every time.
I used these guys for several years for my routine pet care and boarding. But I finally had enough when I boarded my cat for three days and came back to an over $200 bill for boarding + vaccines. The prices are just getting ridiculous there, and it seems like they charge you for every little thing. Also, some of their newer vets seem incompetent: my dog had a splint applied and it kept slipping off. I'd have to go back every day to have it put back on and they charged me every time. I finally had my vet tech friend put it back on correctly, and it stayed in place no problem. I've also had some really bad experiences with their receptionists over the phone. They really need to talk to just the person they're on the phone with and not carry on conversations with clients in the lobby at the same time.
