First I’d like to commend PetSavers for their mission and the fact they offer low cost neutering for feral cats, a philosophy with which I strongly agree. For this reason I brought my cat named GreyCat (a true beauty) to them recently. I don’t know his roots but suspect he was dumped at our rural area about 1 ½ years ago as a young kitten. Since then, he has hung out on our acreage. Although he would not let us pet him, and despite the fact he was obviously a good hunter, he came to our door multiple times a week for food and often watched us from the sidelines as we gardened. Our barn provided him shelter and safety from coyotes. He sometimes disappeared for 2-3 days at a time (and yes, we would worry) but he always returned to our home. Our domestic cat, who tolerates no other four legged on his property, appeared to have worked out an understanding with GreyCat, as they would sometimes sit a few feet from each other, calmly and peacefully watching us two-leggeds work. We often discussed the need to get GreyCat neutered but he avoided the trap. About 2 weeks ago we noted he was limping and over the next few days he began holding his right front paw in the air, walking on only 3 legs. We knew this put him in danger, since he was no longer able to run from natural enemies and, worried about an infection and a slow death in the cold, again set out the trap. The fact that he let himself be trapped was a sign of his desperation for food, unable to hunt due to injury. Thus we were able to bring him to PetSavers and told the receptionist to check out his injured foot as well as the neutering. I mentioned the foot to the receptionist several times to make sure she communicated it to the vet. Oddly, she call me at home about an hour later, asking if I wanted them to check out his foot. (Yes! We already discussed that ). GreyCat was the last surgery of the day and I was told to pick him up at 5:30. All I know is that I gave them a healthy cat with a localized injury. What they gave back was a dead cat. When I asked the vet about his death she had no answers. All she could say is he stood up after the surgery and then dropped and stopped moving. Trying to wrap my head around this, I also asked her about the injured foot. She looked puzzled, hemmed and hawed a bit and then said, “Something was going on there.” My impression was that she didn’t know what I was talking about when I asked about the foot, as if it were the first time she was hearing about it. Maybe he was just a feral cat to them but he was family to us. We buried him with tears the next day…. We have so many questions with so few answers offered. We can’t help but wonder if it was because he was the last of the day, when they were no doubt tired, perhaps not paying attention to details. We’ll never really know what happened in that operating room that late afternoon. We do know that the bill with GreyCat’s name indicated the wrong sex and there was no mention of a foot exam or an antibiotic injection, as we had expected. Again, more evidence of someone not paying attention. We are so sorry we used PetSavers. If only we had made a different choice. We will have to live with this forever. We don’t blame them for killing our family member, we blame ourselves, because he trusted us and we took him to the wrong place.
I adopted (paid for and did paperwork) a dog that was taken directly from the shelter to Pet Savers for neutering in a truck full of other dogs. They have inexperienced staff and the place is like an assembly line. I have taken cats there in the past and just had a bad feeling about the place. Now my dog will be put down after 8 days of quarantine because of they did not handle him correctly and he bit one of their staff. I never even got to bring him home. Yes, I know...dog bites are serious but this dog has shown no aggression whatsoever to people, pets or kids. I have touched every inch of this dog including checking his testicles and he didn't even look to see what I was doing. Low cost...you get what you pay for...an inexperienced hack job!!
I would absolutely recommend this place. Most of my animals have been there for either a spay / neuter, vaccines, and even stitching for a wound. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They provide such a great service to the community. Now that they have more services, I have no reason to go anywhere else!!! Not only are they really affordable, you can tell how much the staff really enjoy their jobs and care about each and every animal they work with.
Great prices! Great service! Helpful staff and extremely affordable vaccines and spay or neuter surgery. Easy to drive to, good parking, Everyone one should have their pets taken care of here.
They were awesome w/ neutering MY stolen, Service Dog (at that time, not stolen and "in Training) North Star. However, when I told them he got stolen, they acted like that it was my fault that he got stolen and that I should've been more responsible at the time. They also had appts available when I was available to bring in my new and recent puppy/ Service Puppy in Training but, they were refusing to make appts for when I was available and were telling me that I have to scheduale appts when they say to scheduale them. The were wanting me to come in a 8 am @ in the morning. My only source transportation that they were and still are fully aware of is my mountain bike and city bus. However, they were too far to ride from the nearest bus stop safely w/ an 8 wks old puppy and the city bus route for that are didnt run that early in the day over there. I was fed up with them. Sure! They were willing to work w/ me and my scheduale w/ North Star but, not for a puppy!?! I went elsewhere for bit more expensive price but, well worth it for their attitude of rudeness, disrespect, and severe lack of non-cooperation/compromising skills. At this point in time I am still upset w/ them and idk if I will ever be returning to them in the future for spaying and/or neutering purposes at this time. I would at least like an appology for their rudeness, etc.
