After reading some reviews here, I was worried about bringing my cat in. A friend recommended me, and swore that she had a wonderful experience with getting her kitten fixed. The vets and staff were very helpful and understanding when I explained that I did not have any vaccination records from my cat's former home. They helped me with every question that I had, and put me at ease. The waiting room was small, but since I had an appointment I only had a wait about 3-5 minutes. I will be going back to get my Allie spayed next week and I look forward to going back with my other cats.

I made the horrible mistake of bringing my 10 year old collie here. She was eating very little, drinking a LOT, had horrible diarrhea, and was very lethargic. I explained this to the doctor, and he looked her over and said that she may be having some kidney issues, gave me a prescription food, and said we should be seeing improvement on this low protein food. I feel guilty because I trusted his opinion and didn't push for a blood test, because two weeks later she had not improved and she started urinating blood and couldn't keep any food down. When I saw the blood, I immediately took her to see a different vet, whose name I won't say just because I don't want to look like I'm trying to promote someone. This vet said that she should have absolutely had a blood test, did one, and found an extremely serious infection in her kidneys. They put her on antibiotics and said that at this point it may not work, but it's the best that can be done. It didn't work. Now my pet that I loved for 10 years is gone because of a doctor's incompetence and lack of wanting to take the time to provide quality care and I had to explain what happened to my sobbing 6 year old daughter who had grown up with this dog. Please, if you care about your pet, DO NOT take it here. I just don't want this to happen to anyone else and their pet. We love them like our children and they just do not care at this place.

I have visited Jones Animal Hospital a few times since moving into the area. Each visit has been a good experience - even with an emergency late night visit. I have a cat and 2 dogs and no complaints about the care, staff and cost options they have available. I have asked overwhelming amounts of questions during visits and calls to their office and have always been satisfied with their answers, options and patience.

I've been with these guys since I owned my first cat: xander. If you want your information sugar coated or you want your vet to take their cues from you instead of giving you options, go someplace else. These guys are the real deal. A small practice, true, but they remember the name of the cat I have now, and don't call my cat by the one I had 10 years ago. (petmed) The last time I was there was to euthanize Squeek. She had a huge tumor in her mouth. I couldn't believe I hadn't seen it! It was much too large to operate. Even I could tell that. Their first response after telling me the horrid news was, "What would you like us to do, Susan?" I got to make the decision, and that was right. I decided to let her go. She was 18 years old. I wish I had had a camera for that last look. Squeek was Sphinx with her paws folded. So at home. That's what Jones does. The pets feel at home. PS: Alison, the guy with the bad bedside manner with humans is wonderful with the pets. Thanks your lucky stars.

It's not the fanciest clinic around--and yes, it's a bit worn. But I have found the desk staff and the techs to be very kind and helpful. I've seen some vets whose bedside manner with the *people* could maybe use a bit more warmth--very clinical, maybe lacking in some compassion--but that's not really the issue when I take my pets in for care, and I've found the vets to be very caring with the animals. I've found them to be competent and very reasonably priced, compared to the "upscale" fancy places that are always pushing more tests, more specialty items, etc. So if you need a lot of (human) hand-holding, this may not be the best choice, but if you want a reasonable approach without all the fancy add-ons, or for basic care, I think they do a good job (and make it possible for those with limited finances to care for their pets--that's a good thing).
