My dog was attacked by a pit-bull mix, comes into VCA bleeding. Finally seen by Dr. Cane who does superficial exam, says chunk missing from his flank is superficial, then writes estimate for $1200-$1500, suggesting I neuter my elderly dog since he'll be under anesthesia anyway to get wound cleaned. Paid for meds & visit & left.

I have taken my pets here for the last 15 years, including my last chance animals and I just want to thank you for all your vets and employees have done. You have always made sure my pets have had the best experiences and have never overcharged us. I even remember when we had to put our one of our beloved pets down and the vet broke down in tears because she had been there with us since we got him and through all his cancer. Thanks to the vets who encouraged us for special treatment for cancer and even paid some of the bills for the treatments. I will continue bringing my pets here, and will encourage my friends and family to do so. !!

Do not take your beloved pets to these types of places. They only care about the money. They will take advantage of you in your most voulnverable moments..treating you with the "if u loved your pet you would drain your bake account, take out a loan, and borrow from your grandma" attitude. i came to post here because i have had BAD experiences with these guys and want to let everyone know to check out River Road Animal hospital. This is the only animal hospital i have been to that puts the patient (pet) FIRST and finances second! I will never take my babies to anywhere else except River Road Animal Hosipital in PUYALLUP WA.

We originally took our dog in to VCA for a laceration to her front leg, that was on the back side by her upper pad, it was bleeding and we panicked calling all the veterinarians , It was right before christmas, and the only place that was open and taking walk ins was VCA on Pacific Ave. We without questions drove over, and they immediately put us into a room because of the blood my boyfriend and i both had on us, i assume we looked quite scary.. We waited about 15 minutes they came in and told us they were going to wait because the dog was stable and save us an emergency fee. we thought wonderful! save some money.. boy were we wrong.. After they took our dog back they came into the room with an estimate, and news about what our sweet girl would have to endure.. The original estimate was 1,700$ for a handful of stitches, they wanted to put her out for surgery, My heart sank seeing the total knowing that i would be in a horrible situation, but i couldnt let our sweet girl down with what had happened. I expressed my feelings about the cost, and they said they can run me for credit, and without having enough credit history i was denied.. They came back in taking off the numerous of extras they had thrown on there, and the total was down to 1,200$ gee, thanks! still having roughly 15 extras that they think we needed on there, they decided to let us know they can save us another couple hundred dollars by sedating her instead of completely putting her out. Which made me feel even better, because anesthetics are scary.. we opted for that option.. they returned with another estimate. this time roughly 900$ .. still shocked they went over it and i noticed there was still about 6 shots she already had. i asked them if it was necessary to get my dog fixed up and feeling better, and they said no and continued telling me how i should and practically telling me if i dont i'm a poor pet owner.. Finally through arguing with them , me bawling my eyes out, and the frustration on my boyfriends face, they brought us a bill that was about 600$ i opted to quit with the back and forth and just get my dog seen.. so i paid it. we got out sweet girl back and we thought it was going to be fine. and once again we were wrong.. i left for work the next day came home to see my dog had gotten around her cone, and chewed off her wrap, we had her taken back to be re wrapped. and they sent us on our way , ( this costs 30 dollars each time) well a week and a half later, the dog chewed off the wrap again, and messed up a stitch the vet opted to take them out cause we were nearing the date to take them out.. and they finally got the bright idea to change her cone out for a larger one.. with huge sigh of relief seeing an end in sight to this horrific experience... we did everything they told us too , came back for bandage change 3-4 times, ( 30 dollars each time) it has been 3 months since this, and my dog is still not healed due to them taking the stitches out too early.. we have been wrapping her, taking care of her, babying her, and she is still not healed, frustrated i called them and told them the situation, they put me on hold, and told me they would call me back, and here i am waiting like a fool... they havent called nothing.. this place is horrible.. My dog is in pain, my wallet is drained, and they treated us like we were scum for not being able to drop 1700$ in one trip.. all i have to say is, i will never take any animal to this place or any place that works with them ever again.. if you have any respect for yourself or your pet, do not go there and endanger your pet. Shame on them for poor business and most of all, letting my poor girl suffer because of their shotty business.

VCA, 10234 Pacific Avenue, provides the most thorough and professional care available locally for my animals on a 24 hour basis. They use sophisticated medical tests to identify the problems their patients are experiencing. We originally went there because Dr. Tim Gintz is a specialist in internal medicine. Thanks to his expertise our dog has survived two traumatic stomach episodes.
