Dr. Kay has been my cats' vet for the past couple of years. I first brought them there because it's just up the road from my apartment building, I kept going because the vets are excellent. My cats see Dr. Kay, who is wonderful, and have also seen Dr. Hospel once when Dr. Kay was out sick, and she seemed great as well. Each of my two cats have had some serious health concerns, and I've had to spend a fair amount of money on vet bills, but Dr. Kay has always been a great help to make sure that we don't go over my very limited budget. In one instance, Dr. Kay even taught me how to do a basic procedure for my cats so that I wouldn't have to pay her to do it. One of my cats is currently dealing with a serious health issue, and when I was there the other day she had run a blood test. When she came back with good news, she looked as excited as I felt. I wouldn't bring my cats anywhere else unless I had to.

I hate this place more than I could ever possibly express. Their incompetence lead to my cat almost dying. I brought my cat in here TWICE and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. I paid for expensive tests and still nothing. I broke down one morning after my cat was peeing blood and took him to a local emergency hospital in a panic because I was terrified for my cat's life. They immediately diagnosed what my cat's problem was and proceeded to help him. They said if I had waited more than 12-ish hours to get him in, my cat would have died. If I could wish any business out of existence, it would be this place. They may be cheap and friendly, but they have no idea what they're doing. Please don't ever put your cat's well being in their hands.

I moved away from Madison about a month ago and I miss Companion Animal Hospital already. My fur baby saw Dr. Hospel for regular checkups and once for a semi-emergency visit when she hurt her leg. The doc was very up front yet compassionate when she explained the options - either an expensive surgery or cross your fingers and hope it heals. Luckily it healed up on its own. I also really appreciate that I would call with questions and they would either give me advice right then and there or have the doc call me back later. I realized upon moving that not all vets are good about that.

I like this clinic, and our vet (Dr Kay), for a couple of very specific reasons. The evaluation of my pets was honest and reasonable - no attempt to trick us into spending more money than necessary was made. During crisis, my pet received their full and immediate attention. We were kept well informed about everything that is being done to our pet, and his condition. The staff is polite and helpful.

Our dog, who we got as a rescue a few months ago, loves going to visit Dr. Hospel. She is fear aggressive of most people, but loved Dr. Hospel from the moment she met her. Dr. Hospel has the most friendly and down to earth personality we have ever encountered in a vet and we trust her completely. She is very knowledgeable and makes sure to explain all of our options when something is wrong with our Tasha. She even calls us to check up on how Tasha is doing with treatments and asks how Tasha is doing in general. The vet techs are also fantastic! We could not recommend Companion Animal Hospital enough.
