Have taken our cat here twice and have been very frustrated and disappointed both times. EVS seem to push for a lot of tests which were not related to the urgent issue. These tests could be done more efficiently and cost effectively at our regular vet but we felt pushed into a corner to complete them by EVS. Both times we went did not result in any conclusive answers. Charged excessively (last visit was over $600). Communication between staff was lacking. This last time our cat was returned to us with feces and the fluid from the IV all over his fur. Don't get me wrong- it's definitely appreciated to have a 24-hour option for emergencies. It just does not feel like a place you trust to advise in your pet's best interest as they appear very money motivated.
I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. My neighbor's kitten was sick this weekend and because she did not have enough money they would not see the kitten. They let the kitten die. She offered to pay half up front and make arrangements on the rest and they said no. The vets there evidently think nothing of the oath they took. It's all about the almighty dollar. Here is the oath.. Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare, the prevention and relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge. I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics. I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement of my professional knowledge and competence. Absolutely no competence in found in these people at all. Just money grabbing , hungry low life's We have started a face book page urging people to boycott them and already have over 800 likes in two days..
I've been to this clinic 4 times this year with 3 doggie visits and one cat visit. This is an emergency clinic, so the great advantage is that you can show up with no appointment. We brought a mini dachshund in with eye irritation, a mini dachshund with kennel cough, a mini dachshund whose eye had been swiped at by a possum, and finally, my 16+ year old cat who had gone into cardiac/respiratory arrest. I found the staff to be knowledgeable and compassionate, and the rates to be very reasonable. I always ask how much something costs at the vet before I agree to it because from time to time I have run across veterinary clinics who seem to need to justify a new piece of expensive equipment by trying it out on my pet. I did not get this impression from Veterinary Emergency Service. They start with a flat fee per visit, which is about $80, and then charge for tests and medicines as necessary. Just this week, I took my cat in, who was going into respiratory arrest when I came home from work. She was at death's door, and the staff walked me through the decision process of putting her to sleep. They were caring and considerate and I was glad that I was there. The major disadvantage at this clinic is the wait, and this is because you are at emergency room, where the most urgent cases get treated first. For my cat, we were seen immediately. For another (the possum eye scratch) we had to wait for 3 hours because there were dogs ahead of us getting their stomachs pumped. I'm giving them a "Very Good" instead of an "Excellent" even though I realize it would probably be prohibitively expensive to keep enough staff on 24 hours a day to keep people from waiting, it was excruciating to wait for 3 hours while worried about our dog's eye.
I have posted this review before and I will keep posting it, here and the 5 other local sites I have posted on. This is the only site where my review seems to have been reviewed. WE called this so called clinic on Sunday morning. I explained our kitten was sick, very sick. I also explained we seriously lacked any real money, but could make a down payment and had hoped to make payment arrangements on the rest. They refused to see our kitten and she died. She died because they refused to see her. I have posted numerous reviews about this place around the internet and will continue to do so. We also have a face book page urging people to boycott this " clinic" with over 1800 likes so far. A local blog has also picked up the story. This clinic does not care about animals just the all mighty dollar. They evidently through the oath they took out the window , as they do not follow it.
