I absolutely love Dr. Schmidt (I wish she did humans too :) )! She is a wonderful vet. She's very understanding and loving to my kitties. I'm amazed at how much she remembers about them each time we come in. I've also had only positive experiences with others I've come in contact with including the front desk and vet techs. As a student myself, I appreciate it being a teaching hospital and giving students the opportunity to directly interact with the pets and owners. I absolutely recommend this hospital for your pets!

I love this place! All of the doctor's are so nice. I've taken my sugar glider there and I take my puppy there. The staff is always friendly and the price is reasonable.

We took our dog Gabriel "Gabe" in for Cataract & Cherry Eye Surgery on July 10th with July 9th as a test day for Surgery. We had the best care one could ever ask for and a Special Thanks to Dr Katie Diehl DMV,MS,DACVO who did the Surgery with the assistance of Allyson Gosling DMV Elizabeth Weber was off the charts for taking care of Gabe what a GREAT student she is. Would want her taking care of my dog any day of the week she was so dedicated and concerned for not only Gabe but us. Love your total TEAM work effort at your hospital. My experience with this place is something you cannot even imagine in your worst nightmares after being told to drive 800 miles to have my PSD (service Animal) evaluated for a clinical trial, the campus cops were called on me for being exhausted, near blind and filthy from changing a flat tire less then an hour earlier. But despite my tale of woe, at less then 5 ft. under 100 pds, I was considered a threat and when I rescheduled the appointment and asked for directions to the nearest motel. when 2 men I thought were campus security came towards me I thought to help but quickly found out different when I could not produce my ID fast enough because it fell out in my car when they ordered me to put my dog in, I was told to sit on the curb and while sitting, one came up behind me grabbed my arm, twisted it behind my back and put a handcuff on me and was arrested for resisting arrest though do not know what I was charged with originally to be resisting arrest for but then before I knew what happened, 2 real cops showed up , I was slammed across the hood of a cop car, my belt pack ripped off credit card flying, my prescription bottle was taken and now I was arrested for my prescription medications in the prescription bottle. My dog was drug off to a cage in the humane society with them refusing to get her insulin, thyroid and immunity vitamins. I was taken to a hospital where I was restrained, 4 men held me down and took blood and urine, then shot me up with drugs to make me look like I was strung out addict I assume, because then I woke up in a holding cell in jail treated like one that took a week for me to get the jail to believe different. I spent 14 days in jail because Had no one to bail me out, and my credit cards and money were missing from my property. When I finally get to court charges were dismissed and was released. It cost me over $1,000 all the money I had saved to get Shadow's precancer testing done to get my car and dog back, my credit cards gone as well as over $300 in cash, my cell phone smashed, computer smashed and barely works, then I go back to the University and they have the nerve to refuse to treat Shadow blaming my being arrested and their residents being afraid because Of my falling asleep and not being able to see. The full story and my civil suit will be updated on Shadowsden google page. I am 48 years old,never been arrested in my life & maybe have 8 speeding tickets most in my teens. I have chronic pain, crohn's disease, RA, severe mental disorders due to brain damage from medication and have gone in financial ruin saving my service animal from misdiagnosed hypothyroid that I diagnosed when she was near death Christmas. She 6 years-old Arctic Gray Wolf I've raised since 2 weeks old and does seizure alert after the medication caused my brain damage she saved me stopping me from driving and working when she detected something wrong and me refused to let me leave the room to drive to the job site, We do volunteer wolf encounters at local schools and pet stores & she has met over 100,000 peoples dispelling myths about wolves and getting donations for Defenders of Wildlife Wolf Fund. DO NOT GO NEAR THIS PLACE IF YOU VALUE YOUR AND YOUR PETS LIFE.

I've been taking my cat to the UW vet for 3 years. I feel like my cat is getting the best care there, because she'll always be seen by two people, a high level vet student and a vet doctor. Going there does a favor to the vet students who are being trained, who have always been very professional. The price seems to be better than other vets. I've always felt welcome there, and the wait generally isn't long. You get hot cocoa in the waiting room for free! Would recommend to anyone with a pet in Madison.
